Some guys will take a drill-mounted mitt or bonnet to a synthetic like microfiber, and as long as they groom it out afterward there doesn't seem to be any damage done. It won't get into cracks and crevices as well as a hand-held brush will, however, so detail work will still have to be done by hand. Ocean sponges and the so-called Hydra-sponge are also popular on more delicate fabrics.
