    Makita Polisher Modification

BTW my resistance to adding another piece of equipment is because I ran out of space in my compact cargo van a while ago. I was already eyeing the MotorScrubber for stair agitation/bonnets but I want to make this polisher work for now. Ideas are welcome, and thanks in advance!

    Makita Polisher Modification

Thanks, I see what you're talking about but not sure if it's still in production. Regardless, I'm trying to convert my polisher pad into a driver...could stick a bunch of plastic spikes in it but that wouldn't hold for long...

    Makita Polisher Modification

I want to use my Makita polisher (originally purchased and used for stone polishing) for VLM stair bonnet cleaning. Obviously the velcro doesn't work great for bonnets (especially when flipped over to the wet side) so I want to find a better way. Seeking ideas of how you would modify this pad so...

    Green Slate Tile Repair Questions

Thanks for the advice, I never thought of that. I would assume that brick yards generally have un-gauged stone but regardless they may be able to point me in the right direction.

    Green Slate Tile Repair Questions

I've been asked to replace a green slate flooring tile, and I'd like some advice on where I should look for replacement material. This is indoor, gauged stone and pictures are attached. I've checked a few local suppliers and so far no luck. Recommendations for slate stone distributors are welcome!

    Color Sealing Maintenance Procedure Questions

I'm restoring a slate floor this week and I will need to color seal the grout lines. I'll be removing the old color seal, and I was planning to reapply new color seal after the stripping, cleaning and sealing are done. This customer will be on a maintenance plan for regular cleaning and sealer...

    Travertine Tabletop Questions

I have lawn edging that I sometimes use around my 175 machine, and this would work except for the corners. I'm thinking to just attach the lawn edging to the table in a rectangle. Still thinking this through.

    Travertine Tabletop Questions

I've never heard of "polish in a can" but I'll check it out in the future. I generally stick to solvent-based sealers, mainly because I've read that they are preferable for natural stone applications. That may or may not be true, but at this point that's what I've become comfortable with. The...

    Travertine Tabletop Questions

I inspected the table today and it will need to be stripped (no surprise). Any advice on how to keep the slurry contained? I'll cover the wood floor beneath it, but I think I need to create a ridge around the tabletop. Thanks.

    Travertine Tabletop Questions

I think what I'm looking for is a variable speed polisher and not a grinder. The Makita 9237C seems to fit the bill, in which case I'll have to order 7" diamond pads. I don't think I can find those locally.

    Travertine Tabletop Questions

Thanks for the recommendation. I've been thinking about adding an angle grinder to my arsenal. Can you help me with a model number for this grinder? I found a Makita "Electric Stone Polisher" that has an integrated water line (Model PW5001C) but it's speed range is 2000-4000 RPM. Way too fast.

    Travertine Tabletop Questions

I'm going to check out a travertine (I'm assuming from the pics, will test) tabletop this week and I'd like some pointers. I plan to hone, clean, and seal. Generally I do this with diamond pads on my 17" 175 but this is not a floor. Should I pick up an angle grinder or buffer so I can use...

Need help with pile distortion on wool rug.

Well the tags are missing on all but one, which states wool. And they sure smell like wool. They may be blended with silk, but not mercerized cotton.

Need help with pile distortion on wool rug.

They were all wool rugs. Pile distortion fixed.

Need help with pile distortion on wool rug.

Thanks everyone, the upholstery tool proved up to the job. Rugs look perfect.

Need help with pile distortion on wool rug.

Thanks guys. Yeah I was planning on re-wetting them so I can reset the nap direction. Normally I'd just soak them again, but to save time I was considering just using an upholstery tool. Might this work, or should I just soak like normal?

Need help with pile distortion on wool rug.

I'm dealing with some noticeable pile distortion/shading in a few of the rugs I just cleaned. These rugs had some pile distortion as a pre-existing condition but I may have made it worse. If I cause it, I think it was because I used a squeegee head on a wand to extract, and I pushed outwards...

    Faucet Adapter for Recessed Sinks

I'm looking for a faucet adapter with extra-long threading for bathroom sink faucets that a regular adapter won't fit. Something with a long neck to it can fit into a recessed opening. I've checked hardware stores and Amazon, either my searches are not on target or they are hard to find. Any...

    Bleach Spots on Olefin: Painting?

One of my commercial accounts wants to have some bleach spots fixed on Olefin. I'm fully aware that I can't dye Olefin, and they understand this. I've read somewhere on this forum about people painting carpets, and I can't seem to find the threads. Anyone have any experience with this? I know it...

    Ripples in Glued Commercial Carpet

Hey thanks to everyone for the helpful replies. Stretching wasn't necessary as the carpet dried pretty flat over the course of a few days. Its a pretty poor install, 30 years old, and I went back over it with encap so I don't ripple yet more carpet. I did end up injecting some glue in trouble...

    Ripples in Glued Commercial Carpet

Major rippling on a commercial job today, in the middle of a long hallway. Maintenance crew had been using heavy detergents for years without much rinsing, and I was tasked with getting it out. In this spot I rinsed a little too much. Carpet is glued. I do carpet repair but I've never been in...

    Jag 8.4 water/foam

I use the Jaguar 8.4, boosted with a Mytee flood extractor. I can do most jobs running off the generator in my van. Great experience so far, nice product Ed! I also use that Ultimate Washer off Amazon, and it works really well after I figured out what setting performs best. For the $36 I spent...

Vac Pump went out, need advice

Thanks for all the responses everyone! I did dissemble the unit to check for loose connections. None seemed super loose but I tightened all connections nonetheless. Since that incident, both vac motors have run without incident. If it ever happens again then I will look further into the...

    Inline Booster Query

Yes, I do realize the Air Hog is easier to use. However, I plan to add a truck mount in the future and I will continue to value the Flood Hog even after I do. I run a powerful generator that can handle more than I currently throw at it, so I don't have a need to go searching for multiple outlets...
