    My problem is trust. I trust that the USPS will get postcards to each and every address I'm paying for but I have ZERO trust that a low wage hiree will complete the job.

    Come on Shane, how many of your customers don't use email vs. how many of them will ever pick up a spotter bottle and use it? I don't really disagree with any of this except the fact that if a business does it's due diligence it should be able to measure ROI at least to a certain degree...

    And if she doesn't have a spot is she going to check her email or look at your spotter bottle? In a years time if you send her 1 email per month she will see your brand 12 times for free, how many times is she going to look at your spotter bottle?

    That's hardly the same but, yes, if I know for sure it will lead to a return on my investment I'm all for it. Hence the ROI question.

    Emails are a tool also and cost nothing. There are many other tools that may cost less or may cost more than spotter bottles. Carrying up a newspaper costs nothing so I would suspect you may have a good ROI on that.

    I can look it up for you later if you want exact figures but I can tell you that it is very low. I only spend money on business cards, a website, and a few Facebook ads per year.
