    Question about water claw

I had a hot water heater break at a apartment complex yesterday and flood out two apartments. One of the apartments had so much stuff everywhere. I usually extract water and remove all wet pad. With all this stuff in this apartment it took for ever. My question is if I use a water claw would it leave the pad dry enough to leave it? Or is there only certain situations that you can do this. This unit I did had a lot of water in it but even in dry areas I had to move the furniture to peel the carpet back to get to the wet pad without cutting the carpet.

in this situation I use an extreme extractor; pull up carpet stick fans under and put 2 dehumidiers in placeand fans on top of carpet.

I had the same situation 3 weeks ago. Third floor apartment water heater broke, went down the wall and 75 gallons ended up in the first floor.

I have the large water claw which I used on the first floor. I put down an airmover after extraction. I went to the other 2 apartments and did the same. Then I went down to first floor and pulled back the carpet, I was surprised at how little water there was left. I used my wand to extract the remainder of water out. I also cleaned the effected area. Don't forget that the water picks up contaminants as it travels down the walls and ceilings, so it may cause some staining on the carpet.

Don't mean to be a black cloud, but I hope everyone asking for and giving advice is certified. If you have the proper equipment, and meters, then you should be able to dry pad in place after extracting with the water claw. But like I said, you need to have a meter to check that you are not leaving the subfloor wet also. And this is assuming that it is a Cat 1 loss. There is also no reason to "float" the carpet as Rickie stated. You should be able to dry in place.

    Good advice above.

Water Claw will do a good job extracting over cushion, but not so good if it happens to be a glue down carpet. You also need a good extractor / vacuum setup to get the best results from the Water Claw.

I only remove padding about 10% of the time over 100% of the time before I had a Water Claw.

    Its awesome.......

you should not have to remove the cushion, most time the claw will do the major extraction/i did not hear you mention any meters on your 3 apartments.i strongly recommend you take a wrt class. barry lacasta is the best in the science of drying.
