Drying berber carpet with pad in place

have any of you drying experts tried to dry pad in place? Had a flooded 1400 sq foot basement yesterday and the carpet is berber with a 8lb pad underneath. I want to leave carpet and pad in place and have extracted 95% of moisture from carpet and pad. In your minds how long does it take extra to dry carpet and pad in place vs taking the pad out? Extra two days? One day? More? Thoughts? Thanks, !!

Pad in place is frequently method use with TES or E-TES directed heat drying. This is faster than standard dehu drying.

Top down drying with carpet and pad in palce is also widely used. Some areas it is the main method of drying. It takes a little more equipment, but should not take any more time than to dry than pulling pad. In fact, the job may finish faster due to the time to remove and replace the pad.

as long as the pad* was extracted properly with a claw, extreme extrator etc it will dry with proper equipment* and set up in 3 days or less

*also depends on pad, some pads have a vapor barrier and will not dry
*proper equipment minimum of a 130 pint per day unit LGR

I never (95%) remove pad! 1 to 3 day dry times... Usually 1.5 to 2 days!

Use lots of air movement, specially on a berber they seem to be more stubborn sometimes to top dry.

well in less than 72 hours 95 percent of structure is dry. I have a few stubborn places yet (wet pad under carpet) that are taking me for a ride but these are great clients of mine and if it takes more than four days to dry I won't charge them for the extra time. Looking great though. I did have one issue with the casing of a door on the very bottom that did swell which isn't good but I am hoping that the swelling will go down. We'll see though. Clients are happy, I'm happy, everyone's happy except for insurance adjuster who was deadset on taking pad out. I had to convince clients that taking pad out is going to cost a whole lot more in long run than leaving in to dry a extra day.
