    Oscillating Pad Machines

So what is everyone's opinion on these machines and their cleaning?

Commercial only? Residential? I've been reading some testimonials on the CCS website ( Carpet Care Systems > ccsop.com ) and seems to be a good cleaning. People pulling their TM? Seems a bit extreme, but...

Anyone that still thinks HWE is the end all for carpet cleaning is mistaken . Op cleaning can be very effective on commercial as well as residential . Experience will be the deciding factor in when to use it .

I still use HWE in the majority of situations , but there are times where HWE just wont do it and OP will - and sometimes a combo of both are effective . Again , experience will be the guide in each instance.

Agree with James Cooper. There is a time and a place for both.

I think of a different machine as a different tool. Hammers are great tools unless you want to cut something. In that case you need a saw. No reason to debate is one "better" than the other.

Every company should have something that can set them apart from the other cleaners, a reason to chose you over the competition. FEaturing OP can give you a marketing advantage if you promote it right.

Faster drying, lower initial costs and other advantages as well.

But in the end 90% of cleaners choose some form of HWE as their primary method.

I thought the topic was OP machines. These may or may not be used for encap. But a Cimex is not an OP machine. Have we changed the subject to encapp cleaning?

I've used my CCS OP machine for both resi and small commercial and have gotten good results. My machine has no built-in spray system, this severely limits my production rate for commercial in my opinion. If that's your niche, definitely consider one. On residential, one issue is having to take care not to tip-bloom frieze carpeting, using a glider helps.

We use the CCS 17" Commercial Breeze for residential & commercial, and the CCS 17" Brute for commercial.
We have a 17" HOS Vento that is just about useless....but it looks cool!

Very good for agitation and finishing a carpet or striping floors. I would never use as a one step cleaning procedure. Just my opinion please no one bash me if this is the way you clean, if it works for you use it.

I use one when people insist on "dry" cleaning. They work as well as to be expected, as long as the carpet isn't really laden with guck that requires a good flush. I broke mine out the other day to hit a couple of spots that wicked back on a CGD (soda)...It was a lot easier than seting up all over again. Plus, it was a lot less likely to wick again since it was drier...only misted the tips.

I do agree with John on this one, almost everyone I run into knows what OP/Encap is and some of them I personally know use the machines to clean with.

    Re: Oscillating Pad Machines

Back about 15 years ago I went on the Old Cleanfax bbs, and man people tried to eat me alive for saying I cleaned with OP only and did so for so long, but then we started the SummerFests and we had a chance to show people what we did, everything changed after that....

If you want to know how well OP cleans , go to CCS and take a look at Johns before and after photo's.

    Re: Oscillating Pad Machines

I remember reading a conversation John had with a cleaner on another cleaning board.
IT went on for 16 pages. @ the time i was stictly TM cleaning. This poster started by bashing the method and John ALWAYS had a very detailed response that started to make allot of seance as the conversation went on.
So much so that i picked up an OP machine and started cleaning with it, After the fairly easy learning curve it was pretty darn easy to match if not beat what a tm could do in most situations. Im a believer and GLAD i found those posts from John.

ya sure a big box truck will help draw people to you. Now I want a box truck to carry my stuff around in

John i think you know who im talking about ? and im pretty sure he has since added op to his cleaning tool box
