Best way to clean CGD is...

...different with most cleaners. Everytime I ask a cleaner I get a different answer. We have developed a successful way of doing it and I will give a rundown later in the thread.

So the question is "how do YOU clean CGD (commercial glue down) carpet?

    Rob Allen.

Now days I almost always encapsulation clean after thorough vacuuming.

Sometimes I steam clean, or steam clean first if it's really greasy, then follow up with encap cleaning.

I don't have a Cimex so (I'm embarrassed to say this) I usually rent a Powerflite floor machine with a bristle block head and a white scrubber pad. I use my truckmount to prespray a couple hundred sq-ft at a time with Releasit or Brush and Bonnet and then run the scrubber over it.

    Eyeball,

Don't be embarassed by that! I use a 175 Nobles 17 inch floor machine or a 15 inch Clark floor machine to encap all the time, with excellent results! I use Surround DS and Surround Green DS. Also have very good luck with the Surround spotter.

I also almost always encap CGD now. If it needs a resorative cleaning, I'll use my TM, and occasionally post encap. If it's a monthly account, I'll flush with my TM every 4th cleaning or so.

So, Rob, whats your secret method

If I have a choice Encap with my Cimex or PAD CAP with my OP. If the customer wants HWE then either my Steamin Demon, porty or TM.Depending on situation.
Despite what some will say I never had a problem with LOADING a carpet with
ShAmPoo OR grinding the dirt down to the backing. If you have good chems and do it right you can go a very long time without flushing. As a matter of fact I am going to encap with my Cimex a doctors office next weekend for the 7 time in the last 2 years. Never flushed. Never had to---yet.

Having said that every situation is different I know. But remember I own a Truck Mount,2 porty's, 2 Steamin Demons, OP, 175 rotory ETC. I have been cleaning CGD for 9 years an the new encap chemistry that has evolved over the past several years is truly amazing.

    Encap is Interium Cleaning
    HWE is Restorative

HWE needs to be done eventually, but encap, with whatever machine you chose to use will work AWESOME period as a maintenence process, I know several commercial carpet cleaners that almost never hwe, however there are times where it is needed, we have a job this weekend that will require both (poor maintenence)

I clean CGD as follows.... Prespray with my inline sprayer, scrub with my 20" 175 with a red pad, then extract with my truck mount, and depending on the account I will go over it with a bonnet after to help with drying and wick backs. I just started doing the scrubbing and post bonnet a few months ago, and It makes a huge difference on the greasy restaurants.

It depends on how often it is serviced and what kind of business for me. When I cleaned resturaunts, I always HWE'd them but I don't do them anymore (always underbidded). Now, I try to keep the apartment halls cleaned regularly by encap as well as the office buildings. They seem to like it cleaned on a regular basis which is perfect for it.

For the ribber texture, I would use the brush rather than a pad under your Cimex.
