    Does this feel right

    Hi everyone,

I have a Cimex machine that I am going to use to clean hotels and other commercial areas. However, before I go out into the world and use the machine I like to have some confidence in what I am doing and what I am selling.
Any how I got my hands on a fairly large area rug that is nothing special just a nylon area rug. In fact I am going to throw it out, but before I throw it out I cleaned it with the Cimex machine as a test. I put down alot of encap partially on purpose, however I guess my question is under noramal circumstances I mix the encap fluid with water via the directions on the bottle. Then I run the Cimex machine until I see a light white froathing not foam just enough to see a light white color at the top of the carpet and start walking. Well I know I kind of went over board on this one and when I went to do the post vac there were times when it was pretty hard to move the vacuum cleaner on the carpet. I do have a Certified Pile Brush, but it needs a small minor repair and because of that does not pick up dry soil as well as my regular Oreck upright.

What I am asking is if someone were to endcapsulate and they over did a section would it be normal for the carpet to feel rougher and tougher and harder to move a vacuume across?

Hmm I dont really encap much, sometimes if there is too much fluid used, it will leave it rough, there are kinda polymers that "ENCAP" the soil if there is too much if tends to become hardened like plastic cement

That's is kind of what I thought as well. If I over did it then the carpet would become like a plastic cement. Any how for the big jobs i'll just take it easier. Like I said this was an area rug that someone gave me and I just cleaned it as a test. The rug was nothing real special and I will be throwing it out, but for any big jobs will just take it easy and I think every thing should be fine. I was using Cimex brand encap cleaner to do this test.

    Re: Does this feel right

Most encap cleaners will leave the carpet slightly stiffer than normal, some say crunchy. But this will go away after a couple vacuum cleaningings.

However, the vacuum should not be difficult to move across the carpet. This may be something about the pile pile this particular carpet or it could be over-using the encapsulation cleaner.

Different encap cleaners foam in different amounts. For example, in the Bridgepoint line, the Encapuclean Green Double Strength foams somewhat, but the original Encapuclean hardly foams at all. If you use enough product until you see foam, you could be over applying a low foaming cleaner.
