is it possible to encap with a RX 20

I would like to try this method of cleaning, and I was wondering if it's possible to do it with an RX20 or am I going to have to purchase some other type of equipment. Totally new to me this so your help and advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thanx

Possibly with a high speed unit.
I know the low speed is too slow and not heavy enough.

Encap only refers to the cleaning solution and yes there are encap chemicals for HWE.

Re: is it possible to encap with a RX 20

Ken is correct that Encap refers to a cleaning solution. So you can use an encap solution while doing HWE. One way would be to clean and then spray apply an encap solution - for example Encapuguard is made to use this way - after HWE.

Most cleaners hear about encap and think of the tiem saving versions of encap, not one extra step after they have hot water extracted. Fro that you could use a brush on the bottom of the RX-20, so you might have to buy an attachment that is several hundred dollars. This would work, but is certainly not the best way or the fastest way to encap.

Consider using a 175 RPM rotary machine if you can beg, borrow or buy a used one. If you decide to stay with encap, the ideal tools are either a counter-rotating brush machine (CRB) such as the Brush Pro or a Cimex. You will get better and faster results with either of those approaches than you would using a brush on the RX-20.

Re: is it possible to encap with a RX 20

I would think that it would work, I'm just not sure how well. The RX-20 does not spin as fast as a 175 rpm machine, but is actually heavier than many of them. I can't see any reason why it would not work, it just is going to be slower. The RX-20 spins at 130 rpm, but with the pad driver is pretty much the same as a 175 rpm, just slower.

Personally if that's the route you want to go I'd rather encap with a $600 175 rpm buffer than a $3500 tool. The Cimex is my favorite tool for encapping though.

You can encap just fine with a 175. I'd strongly recommend installing a solution tank on the rotary. Makes life much easier.

Re: is it possible to encap with a RX 20

    Ruth,
300-400 rpms is spinning pretty fast for carpet. If I was using a buffer I'd stick with 175 rpms unless you really know what you're doing. With caution it may work but it's a little risky. (If you do go that route, I'd make sure you keep plenty of solution on the carpet and keep the buffer moving.)
As George said the solution tank is absolutely the way to go with a buffer.

Yes. But do you mean using the RX-20 with a pad driver head attachment and a bonnet? Because I tried it and it worked but I use the procaps machine with better results for cgd carpet. a cimex will out perform both in my opinion.
