What is the best way to remove gum from carpet using the OP cleaning method?
Its funny I was about to post a thread pertaining to the best process to remove gum on commercial carpet when encapping. I use the heat transfer method and then I just scrape the gum off, but this seems to take too long.
There exists a spray that freezes the spot, making it easy to scrape. I use a jellied tar remover, but I use HWE method only.
What is the name of the stuff that freezes the gum?
Funny this came up. Just got done last week with a big college common area job. sooooo much gum it was not funny. tried the POG from prochem which works but is too slow for me. Go to the home depot or lowes and buy a gallon of goof off pro streanth. 19.99 for the gallon. During the first walkthrough of the place you are going to clean apply a SMALL amount of the goof off to the gum this will break the gum down for easy removal. Sometimes it reqs a sencond try while extracting. For the most part it works like a champ. I have used the freeze spray before and it works ok for one or two pieces of gum. try the goof off just go easy with it on "nice" carpet. It is my first choice for gum now. Hope this helps you. Also works great for paint too. The goof off and goo gone are the same both can be had by the gallon. for about 20.00

i use hel gel orange, or pig out usually from vacaway when op'n
if you want speed for commercial gum removal use pig out
Does low moisture method, whether encapping or bonneting rinse the solvent from the carpet adequetly? If you have tons of gum spots, and use lots of whatever your solvent of choice is then don't extract, do you chance damage to the carpet, or atr the very least resoiling from the residue?
its a good idea to use spotters made for low moisture cleaning
quite often its more advanced chemistry that doesnt need to be rinsed in the first place...something that should be looked at for hwe as well imo
ive switched from a TM to low moisture cleaning now for 2 years with no problems of resoling from spotters
Use a freeze spray and then CTI pro solve gel, or citrus solve gel! Depending on the encap product you could just encap the solvent with the solution. Do a dry down test, mix a Little gel with your encap product and see if it crystallizes.
