I like the pit and the video looks good....

    I have a few questions?

    1. What types of chemicals do you use in the pit?
    2. Do you use not so "H"WE after it soaks?
    3. Do all of the urine stains come out that way?
    4. Do you dump the pit after it soaks and add plain water to rinse?

I am very interested in "pit" cleaning!

    Thanks for the responses!

Ok no gloves because the water has nothing hazardous in it, yes the rug has urine in it, I dont consider it hazardous enough to wear gloves while lowering a rug into the pit, or even getting a little bit of the water on my hand as you saw in the vid. Anyone preferring to wear gloves for this of course I have no problem with, do what you feel comfortable with.

    Jasons questions:

This pit I used Prochem Enzyme deo with Prochem Florosil floral and a good shot of Citric Acid. Im a little concerned about the citric acid killing the enzymes but the end result still seems to come out good and it helps prevent any bleeding. Our goal is to "dissolve" the urine residues, more so than to focus on "dirt" which can be addressed during the final cleaning phase.

After the soak and extraction I prespray the carpet both sides and do a truckmount HWE but you are right, the water isnt "piping" hot, I deliberately raise the pressure a bit higher, like 450psi to give it a good flush. You brought up a good point, I forgot to include the wand cleaning step in the video.

Usually urine stains will come out on a lighter colored rug, but of course we give no guarentee for stains. We are focusing more on removal of odour and urine residue, which consists of fats and Alkaline solids.

I suck up the water into the truckmount after (you have to use defoamer powder to do this because of the deo foaming) then dump into the sewage cleanout. For rinsing we use the wand at 450psi on both sides. Im sure Lisa Wagner would not approve of this, but we have not had any problems, even with Orientals.

    Drying time:
Most rugs are hung, and with fans and dehumidifiers going in the shop, are dry overnight. Some of the bigger heavier rugs may take two nights to completely dry. This is because of the waterclaw which really helps, when we finish with the claw the rug does not even "drip" when we hang it. This is the best extraction of a saturated rug you can get without buying the million dollar wringer.

Hope this helps and thank you for showing interest in the art of sucking pee out of a rug!

How much do you charge per square foot for this service? BTW I love the Camo tarp! It would be a good lining for my Redneck Hot Tub! It utilizes one of the less safe ways to capture the vehicle's exhaust to heat water. Makes killer bubbles though!
