So I get this rug and it has urine stains and customer wants it gone.Problem is custy used Oxy (peroxide) and made it worse. I am thinking of using vinyl paint. Can it work? Any tricks of the trade for this one??

    Vinyl paint? Huh?

So even if you get the yellow out the rug is lighter in that area (probably bleached so it is still going to look bad)

I wouldn't touch this rug. It is going to look bad no matter what you do.

Pro's Choice does make stain magic for wool but in this case I wouldn't use it.

How about talking to someone who does rug hooking? They usually have dyes that would help your cause and they will be experienced matching colors since many of them use these dyes to achieve certain color combinations on the rugs they are making.

Are you sure the rug is wool? It looks acrylic. Is it woven or tufted? I know it's Chinese, but it sure is crummy wool, unless a bonnet was used on it and that's why the fibers are so untwisted.

Anything you put on this to remove the stain will make it noticeable. You will get halos around it. If this is in fact wool it's such a bad quality, and already being damaged by oxyclean, you are going to make this "your" problem instead of just hers.

Pet urine stains are the worst stains period. I tell clients they are permanent - and see if they still want it cleaned. If they do, and it gets better, then YAY - but it's always better to underpromise than to say "no problem" and have an unhappy customer.

If you use something volatile like Stain Magic - you better test in a VERY small area first.

And the painting of rugs - that is not done. That's like putting makeup on a rug. Walking on it will pull it off.

Only dealt with this two times so far. Forget the urine. Oxy seems to have the ability to yellow the wool itself. pH flops, acid treatment do nothing. The fiber is burnt.
