My diaphram pump went bad, it's not pumping any water through..

I took it off and water is flowing fairly rapidly from my 300 gallon fresh water tank without it,
my question is why do I need an external water pump (or diaphram pump)? Isn't there sufficient gravity to push the water through to my hose inlet on my prochem 405?

might work until the water level in the fresh tank reaches about the same height of the water box.

Get a pump. Demand pump, works great.

gotta have a demand pump to get the water to your water box, the water wont gravity feed from your freshwater tank into the water box on your 405
