We use 3/8" for most work but have 1/4" for anything over 200'. We also have a 375' 1/4" live reel for low heat cleaning & Hydroforce use.

We have used many different hoses over the years. The Blue Hose is 1/4" GoodYear used for low heat since GoodYear isn't rated for the heat our truck can produce & the Grey is 3/8" Tornado High Heat Hose. The credit for us using 3/8" goes to Kemp waterfall he has been Great with ideas.

good year is rated for 250 degrees..how hot to you normally run..even 250 is insane...for any type of job...you just tear up your equipment.....

I usually set the temp at 275 degrees:eek: accept for with heat sensitive fibers of course;). We also run 200 or more feet of live hose so there is temperature drop in that much footage. Haven't ever checked with a Lie detector (maybe I will Someday) since the truck can & has produced more heat than even Tornado can handle:eek: at the truck that is. Ever since getting the new truck we have liked as you say insane:eek: heat in some but not all situations. The negative is we have been burnt many times :( & we have to really watch our hoses for wear more than we ever did with our SpitFire.

I do agree that Higher heat does shorten the life of parts but I have talked with AeroTech's engineer & the exchangers & other parts were designed for the heat.

Everyone has their way of thinking & thats fine but I like heat.:D

nothing wrong with heat ..I use it every day....No matter what all the engineers tell you..the seals and other parts are only going to take so much..then your just damaged your equipment ..at 200 ft I lose about 15 to degrees..all pending how I lay out my hose..
meaning that if I leave some coiled on the reel it holds the heat better but it also weakens my hose...Just because it can produce it does not mean it is good to play with...your not doing yourself any favors...The biggest purpose behind these machines is there ability to maintain it while your cleaning..not to cook eggs with it...
But like you said we all have our own style.....

Believe it or not I used to set it higher I have actually lowered it now! I do understand on parts I have gotten used to replacing quick connects etc sooner than with the SpitFire. Im going to have to check the heat loss with 3/8" Tornado someday Kemp has told me it isn't as much with 3/8" as with 1/4". I have so many things to do just not enough time for all.

Wow Billy... from a Spitfire to an Aerotech? Thats a HUGE jump in equipment!! A good one though! Yeah I didn't know they had a different size solution hose, always used 1/4th inch myself. Whats the advantages to the bigger size?

Yes it was a major jump I spent over 2 years just looking & asking questions about different brands of equipment. I even had a few basically in so many words tell me to go away until I am ready to buy. Needless to say I didn't buy from them.

I understand on sizes I never thought I would be using 2.5" Vac & 3/8" solution. Now I think 2" is small LOL

    Advantages IMO are

    Less heat loss
Hose doesn't seem to get as hot on outside as 1/4" tornado at same temp.
seems to last longer than 1/4" so far.

    Disadvantages are

Heavier but after a week or two not a big deal
Less hose can be put on a reel.
    Fittings are bulkier.

I'll edit post if I think of more things sorry I am watching a movie now.

Rob, If I may jump in on this one.... Kemp IS the man that introduced ALL of us to 4 to the door, He IS also the 1st guy that started the high flow theories ... I believe "greenie" owes Kemp a huge thanks for turning him onto his idea... I am sure he will, I know Jeff to be a stand up guy... Kemp Waterfall is also a very highly respected cleaner in the valley, and is friend of mine.

Only from the reel to the machine Justin. Are you using a live solution reel? Also any hoses you replace in the machine from now on including the fittings, go up one size imo.
