Use a white towel and an iron to heat up the wax. Then use Power Gel and agitate-- then HWE. If red remains- use heat transfer method. I like Red Relief.

First remove the wax, then remove the red.

A few points to add to the process described above.

First scrape off any excess with a spatula, bone scraper, blunt knife or edge of a spoon. Sometimes it even helps to use one of the gum freezing sprays to harden the wax before scraping it. Get off as much as possible before going to the heat method.

A solvent, even rubbing alcohol, may help on small amounts of crayon or wax instead of the heat. Solvent is safer for the carpet and will not set a stain.

If you use a paper bag instead of a towel, don't use one with any printing. I once removed a lot of candle wax from a carpet only to find the word Kroger" (but in reverse) was not heated into the carpet.
