Looking to see if any benefits with this water.Does it make you use less product due to softness.I know with washing in house plus commercial kitchens that have it use less soap and cleans better.Looking see if this falls in same category. So do use less chemical than on label????
I run a Kinetico water softener....my main reason is to help protect my truckmount from the damage of hard water....
I just bought a house this year without one installed(I bring most of my water to the job). My old house had an awesome system. I have noticed a big difference. It just seems harder to clean. My homes water smells like chlorine, I mean no wonder people are getting cancer, how much chlorine is the water company putting in the water?? I have noticed a buildup on my equiptment, if you take off the silver shut off valve and look at the pipe inside it just looks like there is buildup. I need to stop by the water solituons place down the road and get a system installed, its one of the top things on my list. I like the system you have jim, that would be great for all of the well water homes near me!
I have seen the exact same softener hooked up to a home....when I ran the Vortex...it worked off a fresh tank so I did the same and had a softener installed at my house..we put in a extra large one so it would accommodate the 130 gallon fresh tank... the one I run in the picture above is one of the best ones you can have...it takes care of its self..all you have to do is put salt in the holding tank...after so many hours of running it re-generates its self and back flushes...
If you are curious about the benefits of cleaning with better water do this. Go to an auto detail store that sells water for the detailers to put in their trailer tanks. It is usually deionized water or goes through some type of reverse osmosis to get all the crap out of it. I am in San Diego and we have very hard water here. But I digress man. Anyways see if they will sell you say 20 gallons and do a job with it. Thats how I get mine it is .15 a gallon and I buy 40 gallons at a time it's like 6 bucks. Not only does it keep yer equipment healthy you will use less solution because all or most of the impurities are out of the water so the cleaning solution only needs to act on the soil and not on the impurities as well as the soil. I can tell you that I use 1/3 of what they tell me to use on the label and the results are the same. Soft water is good but most of the detailer's water is softened PRIOR to whatever else they are going to do to it (deionization, reverse osmosis, etc) so it is simply better water to clean with. Just what I found in my travels. If you want a better explanation call 760-752-5223 and ask for Janet. She is an encyclopedia of cleaning, chemistry, and whatever else you fancy to ask regarding our awesome industry. Her company is Bradley's Pro Clean in San Marcos, CA. Hope this helps.
Our water softener is at the home/shop. I fill every day from that source. I do not mix my prespray any lighter than directions on the bottle, but I also don't have to spray and clean twice most of the time. My equipment doesn't get bunged up with residue and my heat exchanger stays clean. On the exception that I run out of water on the job I will hook up to customer's hard water, but it is not often enough to cause any serious buildup because next load is soft water again and breaks it all down and recleans the pipes. To answer your question, I have to say yes soft water will help your cleaning process for the very same reason you use detergent to clean in the first place, to soften water and allow it to penetrate and dissolve soils more effectively.
I use this to make "pure" water on location Like said above Soft water is better than nothing, But it still doesn't come close to "pure water" I use this setup to deliver the water to the TM
Just like Jim Martin, have a Kinetico on the truck and have another in the house. Makes a big difference in reducing scale in your TM, and it does allow you to use less chemical as well. But I don't know if it's enough to justify the cost of buying a $1500 Kinetico. If anything I'd get one more for your TM than it's cleaning abilities.
