Ok so today I was doing monthly maintainance. I looked at the water pressure guage and there is a large bubble in the guage, so I pull off the rubber fill cap on top of the guage. I read online and read that they use glycerol oil to fill these guages so I get some glycerol and fill it to the top. Replace the rubber fill plug. I go to start up the engine and where I filled the guage the rubber plug shoots out and water spraying everywhere!! So did last night's below freezing temperature have an effect on this guage? or did I do something wrong?

    Any help would be appreciated!

The oil will not hurt it, my guess is it freeze damage.
