Anyone have a wrench icon light come on on a Ford? I was driving and not the engine light but the wrench icon light came on and the engine shut down to power less speed. I pulled off the road and turned off the truck then turn back on and it ran fine.. Light went out... Looked up what the light is for said "limp-mode* see dealer.. I also went online and said the Wrench icon comes on indicating you have an Electronic Throttle Control Error.
Just was wondering what the fix is or was if you had same problem.
    Thanks for your help
    Frank

Strange codes appear sometimes. The first thing I would do is clean the battery cables and see what happens. Then if it comes on again our local auto zone will hook them up on a computer for free.

I didn't see it was a 2007. I would take it back to the dealer the code should be stored in the computer.

Don't take it to the dealer... I took mine in for a check engine light, figured I mine as well it was under warrenty and all is was was the gas cap was loose. They charged me 125.00 and gave me a new gas cap.

I would take it to an auto zone or any auto part store that will do it for FREE like mentioned above.

Good idea Able. I rented my scanner from murrey auto and decided to keep it. Its a decent scanner for my truck. Most cars or trucks do not produce a MIL code for a gas cap. Just like a lot of cars do not throw a code for low oil level but rather low oil pressure. Im not saying it cant happen. Just saying its rare.

Keith I feel your pain!!! I did the exact same thing! My Acura had a "check engine" light on and I brought it to the dealer. Upon arrival they asked me if I had filled up with gas lately, I replied "no not for over a week" so they said ok we'll take a look at it.

After about an hour of waiting in the crappy waiting room they came out and told me it was the gas cap and it was not all the way on. Then they stuck me for 130 bucks, which included a lesson on how to put on my gas cap and a "complimentary" car wash..... $130 crappy car was....

    Man Frank that sucks!
