I have a liquor store that looks like crap. They do NOTHING to the floor other than sweep it every couple of days between me burnishing the floor (every two weeks). This place has more traffic than Wal-Mart per sq ft. I've used every pad known to man and several finishes trying to make it look halfway decent. I was ready to scrub and recoat it again.

I finally tried the Twister pads. One pass with the yellow to clean and one with the green on a burnisher. Finally, have a decent shine on the floor. The owner really liked it.

Used them on a vet's account. She wants as few chems used as possible due to the continual recovering pets in the place. Since the twisters only use water, it seemed like the perfect fit. She's happy with the results and loves the no chems for her patients.

This is a product that actually did what it said it would do. To say I was shocked in an understatement. I'll be stocking up.

The twister pads are the same thing as spinergy pads, I use them on stone all the time but I had never thought to use them on vct. I would think as you use them on a waxed floor it would end up ruining them, but I may be wrong.

They have a whole list of things they work quite well on. They have a super shine pad I haven't tried. I was amazed. This floor has looked like dog crap after the second week. They do not even damp mop. If a bottle is broken they use paper towels and leave the residue. Today it looked like I had just put down finish. It was nice to finally see some progress.

Did you strip the floor first? or just mop and dry burnish? I have a client that whose floor is developing halo marks due to chair wheels and am looking for a way to make the floor look decent. In addition to suggesting that they purchase chair mats for all desks

NO stripping or refinishing, just used the Twister pads. I've used white, beige, hog's hair, natural hair, hair and some synthetic combination. It always looks like crap. I used a white twister on an OP followed by a green twister on my 2000rpm burnisher. This week we just used the high speed. Looked okay, but, we'll be using the white/green combination from now on. Looks much better for only about 10 minutes longer effort.

I'll be trying just a green under a high speed this week on a floor the owner maintains following all my advice. He wants his place looking good so I'll see what the twisters do on a well maintained fresh floor. I stripped and refinished this floor about 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for the response. Ill be contacting them Monday to see if there is a distributor in New Orleans.

I maintain a few 24 hr gas stations where the finish is all but gone. If I can bring them back to life, I can really tie this into our way of being green. No finish/chems need to keep the floor with a shine.

I can use the white on my 175 and the. And the green pad on my hi speed.

Ill keep my eye on this thread to see what the green pad does to a well maintained floor

Here are three after pics of the restaurant floor. These were taken at night with my droidx2 so forgive the quality. The twister green pad on a high speed really brought out the shine.

you need to get a auto scrubber and wash that place really good before buffing. If it's very dirty as you said, I will use a UHS by Johnson, add it in the water tank 2 oz in 5 gal. and then dry buff

New to vct flooring...can you run various pad combo's with a 175rpm'r to refine scratches to restore gloss?

I don't know how you do it, but I aways pre wash the floors prior to buffing, if don't wash it the dirt get into the wax and soon start looking dirty and crappy, yellowing faster. When the time come to do service on that floor, instead of do deep cleaning and redcoats, you have to strip it. Auto scrubber for big liquore store with new pad and UHS will do the job perfect.

Nope, it doesn't. They do NOTHING between my visits. For the autoscrubber to do any good it results in a recoat. The twister white pad gets the crap off the floor without needing a recoat.

Thanks so much....so helpful here, can't believe it...anyways I went outside of the box and simply wet sanded and buffed the floor out using my 175rpm'r with a twisted wool pad and some meguiars compound and polish...looks great!

Give people some time. ;) You can do about anything, but, a 2000rpm burnisher is going to be faster than a 175 and give better results. Clean/scrub with a 175 (or OP) or autoscrubber, follow with the right pad for the finish on a 2000 (at least 1500 or you'll take way too long) rpm burnisher. If at all possible, use a propane burnisher much faster and better results.

The problem with horridly maintained VCT is the finish is often completely gone or at the last coat before they call making for a fun time cleaning it and it will sorely need to be refinished which many of these people will balk at the price.

I have more money invested in VCT equipment than I care to admit. I keep threatening to sell it all off, but, there is too much money to be made.

I'd like to try the HTC Twister pads. Where can I get them? If I can't get them locally (Dallas area), what color burnishing pads would come close to the yellow and green Twister pads?

I'd still like to try the Twister pads if I can't get them right away, but I would like to get something comparable for this job I'm doing this week. Thanks.

Powr flite sells the starter pack ( white, yellow and green pads). Works pretty well. I used the green pads burinsh a concrete floor at 24 hour gas station we maintain. It is the only pad that has returned a shine/sheen to the floor. The floor is in desperate need of a scrub and recoat or full strip and wax but the owner won't budge on that so
It is just maintain with twister pads. I tried champagne pads, 3m aqua pads, porko and porko plus pads with little change in appearance and the pads would build up pretty quickly.
No buildup on the twister pads.

    Thanks!

Someone private messaged me that they're also at www.diamondtoolstore.com and it appears they have better prices, although they don't offer the starter pack.

I wanted the yellow in 17" and the green in 20" anyway, to keep both machines moving and get the job done faster.

I would like to add my expertise to this thread. I have used the Twister pads for years in the concrete polishing industry and have since brought my knowledge to VCT. You will not find any regular burnishing pad that compares to the Twister pads, because Twister pads are diamond impregnated and have super long life. If the floors are really bad, you can even use a Red Twister to get deeper into the finish.

I also use the Twister system to strip/refinsh floors without a chemical stripper. I use a Red Twister with water on a weighted 175rpm srubber. I sweep and mop the floor real good, then run my high speed burnisher with a Twister Super Gloss pad, sweep again, and lay my finish. The results are fantastic and there is no chemicals involved.

Some more in depth information on Twister pads are followed with the color and the grit value of the pads, since they are embedded with diamonds.

    Black - 100 grit
    Red - 400 grit
    White - 800 grit
    Yellow - 1500 grit
    Green - 3000 grit
    Super Gloss - 10,000 grit

I hope this helps everybody, and the extra cost of the Twister pads don't compare to the savings of their long life and lack of chemical use.
