I recently picked up a good deal on a used pto driven truckmount for my 2000 Econoline van. I am hoping you guys might know a place near Chicago that can help me remove the mount from the old van into my newer van. It looks like this might be quite an involved job to do by myself. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brad

Your not going to be able to do it yourself unless you are very patient and know what you are doing to overcome the fact that a wrench does not stay on the bolt or nut without someone else holding it. That type of job needs two people. I would help you as I am in chicago but I am up to my neck in my own repairs. Try Able or Jondon.

    Brad,
Did you just waste your money.....
You should have found out information before you bought the PTO. Do you know the following answers.
What PTO did you get? What year is it and what year, make and model van was it in before you bought it? What engine was in it? Is your van the same make, model, year and engine size? If so, you should be good to go. If it is the same make but different year, was there any changes is engine size or component location (ac compressor, power steering or alternator). Depending on the answers, you may have wasted your money or you may have to spend more to make it work. The biggest concern is the PTO drive shaft assy. You need brackets that mount on the front of the engine that will mount to yours. GM, Ford and Dodge all have different "Front end kits" that mount to the engine. Butler, White Magic, Cleanco, Hydramaster and Steam Geni all have different bracket styles and drive shaft lengths and clutch styles. Is the clutch a serpentine groove or a 2 groove V-belt. Do you have all of the pulleys? Are the PTO drive shaft bearings in good condition? Do you hear noise or feel anything when you turn it by hand? This is a start on what you need to know before you can continue...
