My thermostat control for the heat exchanger broke today. The line broke right at the probe  The unit I have is of unknown origin :) so I can't just track down parts based on model. I pulled the thermostat out and took some pictures. The probe part threads into a tee coming off the heat exchanger and the tube has a red rubber sleeve around it, the knob has a range of 86-302 degrees, looks pretty standard. My question is, could I use this part be a replacement for it?

That one from interlink will work. I will probably work better than your old one.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure before I ordered. I figured they were semi-generic and able to retro fit if nothing else.

One more thing. On the thermostat probe I have now it has the retaining nut? already on it. Some of the thermostats appear to just have the probe but no nut to attach the probe to the tee fitting. Will I need something else in order to install it?

You should contact interlink to see if it comes with the cap/nut, discs and washers. Its basically a hardware kit. You should always replace the capillary discs and washers. Show me a picture of the block. Dude that needs to be installed carefully. Its not like you put it in and tighten it down. The bulb cannot touch the metal block or you get misreadings. And you have to be carefull not to smash the bulb. I like to use non drying silicone to keep the discs from falling off and out of groove.

The 302 comes with a 1/2 inch pipe thread fitting you install where you want the temperature measured.
It also has a retaining nut that locks the probe into the 1/2 inch fitting.
Once the probe is installed in the 1/2 inch fitting the probe will protrude approx 3 1/4 inches through the fitting.
