Hi I am based in the United Kingdom and running a Prochem Apex Diesel and a Chemdex 25hp, my question is can you run a single 50' 2.5" vac hose from the machine split it to 2 x 2" vac hose and use 2 x 25' 1/1/2" whip hoses - how much suction would I lose - if any ?

I would not recommend using the 1-1/2 hose at all. 2" on a wand is not unreasonably burdensome. 50 of 2.5" then split to 2" would be workable but the 2.5" would then be your limiting factor and would not be as good as 2 x 2" all the way. Plus it gets more inconvenient carrying two different sizes of hose. With all 2" you would have more single wand reach for the amount of hose you could carry. Just my thoughts and I am a guy that carries 130" of 2.5" and 50' of 2".

I also have Apex machines(not diesel) and if you want some crazy vac go with the 4 to the door setup! 2 2inch to splitter and then 2 inch to the wand which I have a 2 inch shafted wand with hole glides that SCREAMS! Also tightened up vac relief valve & bumped up RPMs a little and now craziest vac and smoking heat! Just though if your interested in vac that this would be awesome for you! Most guy's think it's to much hassle but it's not and it really creates amazing dry times which is a BIG selling point and people love it and always call you back cause getting there carpets cleaned no longer is a big wet burden for them! Good luck Ian

Bill would you say the Apex is a 'true duel' machine, the 4" vacuum hose is BIG - difficult enough to get 2.5" in UK - also what length of hoses do you run maximum. Some of the runs my operators are running in schools etc is 2 x 400' hence the reason I was asking apout splitting, save on the hose space.
    Regards
    Ian

Yes, especially if setup like mine with vac relief and RPMs adjusted. I am not sure if you know what I mean but I don't even know about a 4inch vac hose? On the 4 to the door you use 2 2inch vac lines to a splitter then a single 2 inch vac line to the wand. Basically with this setup wherever the splitter ends up is like parking your van right there. I shoot for no more then 50 feet after the splitter and most times 25 feet to the wand.
