I have been plagued by these greasy nightmares as long as i have been cleaning carpet, I probably should have come here for advise initially but did not think of it until now. I have tried almost everything (fels, citrus gel, spraying citrus solve) and sometimes the carpet just DOESN'T want to let go of those greasy black marks. Some carpet seems to just clean up like a dream, but others.....

Anyone got any advise on these? they sort of remind me of filtration stains combined with traffic pattern.

Like boost all? Should I add it to the prespray or just keep a bottle of it mixed up with some water and apply that to the trouble spots?

interesting, does sodium percobonate always raise the PH of the pre-spray though? I actually stopped adding boost all because I was afraid it would take the PH to high, and could possible damage some of the nylon carpets.

Sodium percobonate makes hydrogen peroxide when you add it to water doesn't it?

If the area is that bad to begin with how are you going to harm it with pre-spray and rinsing it?

the key to sodium percarbonate is that the longer it stays on the carpet the better it works I use it in my prespray as a booster and i go a little heavier on the spots. then i clean the entire room and it work very good. I always carry a gallon of 3% hydrogen peroxide in my van if for any reason I don't have sodium percarbonate I use peroxide instead same thing and cheaper.

Got it, I think i will go back to adding some to my pre spray, i always carry boost all but like I said I stopped using it at some point (probably newbie fear, I never actually had problem one with the stuff)

One problem I did have was I never could quite figure out how much to add to a 4 quart hydroforce (the jar was excruciatingly vague, actually had the owner of the local interlink try and figure it out and he didn't quite have an answer) I think the problem he had was that he couldn't tell if the line on the scoop denoted one ounce or not.

I think i will go a scoop and some change on my day to day pre spray, and maybe get a little bottle of it mixed up for trouble areas (i always used to keep a spray bottle with it)

If I remember right, it doesn't last very long once it is in liquid though does it? Eventually it releases its extra oxygen molecule and just becomes water (I could be wrong, but that is what I remember)

How much do you add when you use peroxide from the bottle? and what strength do you buy? Maybe I am thinking of rubbing alcohol but I sort of thought it came in different strengths.

yeap that's the one that's what sodium percarbonate is prety much 3% is the safer to use to my taste nut some times you can use 6% just have to be careful with the mixture it's kinda hard to figure it our but 3% i have use it straight with no problems 6 bucks a gallon compared to more 20 bucks a pound just use it all the time with your pre-spray and see the results 2 or 3 ounces per gallon don't need much

How long do you figure it lasts? If you had half a jug of pre spray left at the end of the day would you add another dose of the 3% in the morning?

Peroxide happens to be one of the best cleaners and has been used in hospitals to clean odor less colorless hypoallergenic and is one of the best oxidizers out there. when you see oxi this oxi that think of extremely overpriced hydrogen peroxide. there are some advantages in some product though for example if the product is a combination of surfactants and sodium percarbonate or sodium carbonate you will probably be better off buying that product as you will not need you regular prespray any more you will be substituting and like any other product it has to see with concentrations and quantity of active ingredients.

I would not know that one since you use the hydroforce but I use pump sprayer and I mix only what I need for each job

'cause it lasts only 5 to six hours good thing is if you mixed a l little to much you can empty your sprayer in your garbage disposal to keep it without any bad odors and to destroy build ups inside it
