Brakes, tires, and some body labor for $405??? Cheap enough. One tire for the van is $150. Figure $400 just to look at the brakes. And we won't even go into body labor. Sorry about your motor though... that's not cool!

how about trying this- go to a auto collision/body repair shop and ask them if they could get a car for you from an auction - look for a nice and new one as new as it fits your car, look for one that has complete rear damage i mean completely shot rear twisted frame roof airbags blown and ... but the front is good - you can get those so darn cheap it just funny. My uncle owns a shop in NY and i know for a fact that it would wery likelly cost you more in dealers fees and towing then the car itself - we got cars for as little as $100 lol

I would take a look @ car-part.com I'm pretty sure you can find a complete used engine on there for not even half the price. It will be used and with some miles on it but if you go through a reputable company you can get a warranty as well.

I have purchased a few parts from some of the dismantlers on there and all my purchases have turned out great.

Time to trade up! Last summer our '00 Discovery started losing a lot of coolant so we just traded her in, anything Land Rover usually starts at a K, and goes up dramatically!
