Not a happy carpet cleaner today. My brand new sapphire 454 has a major
breakdown at 37 hours. Left coil gone. Machine unusable.
Going to be at least 2 days in the shop to fix it.
Although Sapphire took great pains to make servicable parts accessible,
they forgot about the coils, which from what I hear, this is not the first one
    to blow.

To make matters worse, after working for 2 years to get the local hospital account,
they finally come through and hire me to do thousands of square feet of carpet there
and I have to call the guy and say sorry, machine broken down, cant do it, just
before his inspectors arrive. I may as well kiss that account goodbye now.

    Thanks Sapphire!

Wow that sucks!! Look like a nice install in your truck... Sorry to hear that!
Is there someone in your area could help you get the job done so you will not loose the account??? Or someone could rent you a tm?

Can you return it for a full refund? I would switch it out with an el diablo if you can.

Rent a Cimex and get some Releasit DS. It will do the job you need done for the hospital.

Sometimes going by the look is bad,
that is why I like amtex, you can fix it in the spot.
I don't know if el diablo is easy to fix.

I'm sorry to hear that Richard it seems like a beautiful machine but that happens sometimes. This is the reason why I am kind of scared of up grading to a fancy TM. Try to borrow someone's backup TM if you were close I would lend you my backup.

Should be ok, hoping he is ok with holding on till Tuesday night. Truck is at the shop now but wont be ready till at least Tuesday.

He asked if we could do it with a portable and I said no. Those carpets havent been cleaned in over 20 years, and now all of a sudden he's in a hurry?
A porty isnt going to cut it, we already did the cafeteria and it was a struggle with the best chems, agitation and 210 degree heat and it still looks stained. The porty isnt even going to touch these carpets.
I would rather do NO job than a crappy job with the porty in there.

Thanks for the replies and support with my venting :)

Still havent decided if were gonna cancel the holiday getaway we had planned for next week because of all this ;(

The El is a dream to use and repair. It is the single best truck mount I have ever bought by far.

Awesome for Cosway to offer, but Mississauga is still a 3 hour drive lol.

As of 5pm got a call from the Briggs Dealer, problem has been accessed. It was a wire leading into the coil under
the engine cover, heat and vibration had worn through it's casing and it was shorting on the engine.

He's going to wrap it up good and secure it and have it reassembled by Monday afternoon.

Only person still upset by all this is the Hospital guy, but oh well ;(

They say if something is going to go, it will go within the first 30 days, this applies to any machine you may buy.

I dont lie too much blame on Sapphire for this, although they should make note of it for future models and
secure and insulate that inner wire to the coil a little better, since it is 6 hours labor to get to it. Of course they will say this is Briggs and Stratton's problem :)

I was seriously considering an El Diablo, but at the time could not find a Canadian distributor, I would have to cross the border near Sarnia, about an 8 hour drive for me to get to the nearest dealer, then deal with customs, duty tax, red tape and all the other stuff just to get it over the border.

Also I am still concerned about driving around with a fuel fired system as opposed to the safety of the heat exchangers, and with my unit 210 at the wand is plenty of heat for me.

    Awesome of Cosway to offer!!

Hopefully the hospital guy will understand? I agree with renting a tm or having a local cleaner help you out so you can keep the account.

I think you could do a good job with a portable, just may take a while longer and you might have to post bonnet a little? But you would get to keep the account!

If you told me you spent $30K on that machine in order to take great care of me I would give you a chance to shake out the bugs. he has already waited 20 years. I guess the inspectors only show up every 20 years like a comet. after 20 years of no cleaning he hired you. Its you he wants. If the rest of the hosp looks like the carpets they plan to fire his a$$ anyways. sorry this is on your head.
