I have taken in a lot of rugs and have came across just about every kind in homes. But this one has me stumped.
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one Hard to tell from the picture, I wish I could see it in person and feel it. It almost looks like raw leather. Can you tell if it is?
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one If it is leather I am not sure there is much you can do for it. Maybe use the wand from your truckmount to vacuum really good and MAYBE if you think you would be able to vacuum it all out try some HOST or Capture dry cleaning powder.
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one ahh man, i wanted to be the first guy to suggest it was leather then noticed two others, haha not as quick and clever as i want to be.. maybe after its aggitated and vaccumed well use a safe product on a terry cloth or something and multi dirtectional strokes? shot in the dark, im not qualified for a real suggestion
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one Looks like leather but the backing weave does not. I cleaned one of these many years ago - I THINK I basically did a major vacuuming on it. Host might be a good idea. How big is it and how soiled does it appear? Was it in a heavy traffic area (I hope not!). Chances are it only has atmospheric soils and not ground in soil. Spread the face yarns and take a good look down there to see if there is much soil.
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one Ok, Rob. Total leather newb, cleaned my first couch the other day, but what about taking whatever leather cleaner you use, spraying it on in some manner, and agitating with a CRB or a Cimex? Soft bristles/brush only, of course. Then you could apply conditioner in the same manner. Just a WAG on my part.
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one This is a tough one. It is only mildly soiled but it is is extremely dusty. Wonder if I can dust it with the badger? Dusty?
Re: Rug Spa #3 is a tough one Rob. face is leather. back is a flatweave cotton or wool I suspect. I would recommend to just dust the snot out of it, back side only of coarse using your RugBadger. For the front I would recommend that you "grin" the pile and use a crevice vac tool to vac only. I don't recommend that you clean the front side with anything. Wet cleaning of the leather will make it hard and may even darken. A leather cleaner/lotion needs to be wiped off and thats going to be pretty hard. Best just to dust and vac only. Maybe somone else has a better way. I'm all ears.
