Just recently got back from a trip to Israel. My Grandmother had this rug at her house and she wanted me to have it. I dont know anything about it accept that she said it is about 70 years old. The rug is a square and approximately 5x5.

Any rug experts out there willing to take a stab at what kind of rug this is?

I'd like to know where it was made, if it has any value, how old it might be, (my grandmother is over 90 years old so when she says its 70 years old...who knows...)

Thinking about getting it repaired, because it does need some work...but i want to know what its worth before I start making investments into it.

    Thanks

You're gonna have to take it to someone who can look at it and do physical tests. Where are you located?

The value is purely decorative because this is machine made product. If you like it, then get it fixed because you like it and it belonged to your grandmother. This would not have resale value, machine made rugs are rarely collected and in the rug world 70 years old is still "young"...it's not bad looking, just not valuable. It's nice she gave you something she liked and wanted you to have. Grandmas are cool. =)

But just so you know - if you put $100 or so into it to fix it up it will not make the piece worth more. So spend what you want to in order to make it stay in good shape, but not because you are investing in an investment rug.
