Over the last 3 months I have been immersing myself in rug identification and proper cleaning techniques. I would like to pass on what I have learned to give TMF members a "foundation" to start on before they take a class or "boots on" class. So I think it would be useful to start a thread on cleaning oriental for newbies. The reason I say this is at Connections in Vegas the Rug Class's were jam packed and many had questions as far as identification and cleaning techniques. To do this we need to start right at the beginning and then progress to advanced videos. So I think 1st of all we all need to know how they are made. Here are some interesting videos to that effect to start it out. If this thread progress's well then we will make it a sticky.

Here are 4 videos from a rug symposium with main highlights. Good info about dyes, bleeding and identification. The last one has a small demo of rug tools.

I really want to get one of those blue rinsing tools by Jeff Bishop in the last video. Really flushes the carpet and urine is forced out. I opened a Rug Spa here in Va and it sure would come in handy. I was impressed with how it worked. I'm going to try and locate one when I get back and will do a video of our company cleaning some rugs.
