I was doing a job last night with my M5 and Rotovac 360i. Half way through the job my Rotovac started acting up. The handle would go from about waist high and walk itself right on up till it's straight up. I'd hear it click as it was changing the adjustment on it's own. I could not figure out why this was happening. I looked for a way to adjust the button but could find nothing.
My Rotovac kept going from this position

And walk itself up to this position. I'm pointing to the adjustment button that I cannot figure out how to tighten up.

Has anyone here had any similar experience with this? Do you know the fix or how you can tighten this thing up? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Johnny

So no Rotovac guys have any advice with my problem? I wish they had just made this part like my old 175. Never had this problem with my 175. My back is killing me from using this thing standing straight up.

If its not staying there may be stripped . .
I would call Adam from at Rotovac and get a replacement lock part or threaded bar ... If its still new the parts are covered..

Call rotovac. they had an issue with the brass part and the springs. I had the same problem, they sent out a new part and a new spring. I doubled up the spring and has been good for several months now.

Frank; Thanks, on it right now.

Tim; Thank you as well. Hate to say this but I am glad to hear that it's not only happened to me. When you say doubled up, do you mean you used two springs instead of just the one?

Jim; Happy New Year to you as well, Thanks! You're giving me way too much credit, I never thought of using a couple nuts for a temporary fix. That is a brilliant idea. It may actually end up being a permanent fix as well. Apparently this has already happened to this very same machine before, it was fixed and it is now doing it again.
Off to Home Depot to give your idea a try. Thanks again! This is what I love about this forum. :)

Yes, I just used the two springs and threaded them together or go to home depot or lowes and get a heavier spring.

Okay, so here is the update. Rotovac is sending another spring as well as a new button. They have now switched back to Stainless Steel from brass. Apparently the brass button wears out pretty quickly so they have gone back to the stainless. I went and got a new and heftier spring to get me by.
Once again I'd like to thank you all for your help, information and suggestions. Johnny
