1000 PSI off a boxxer but a pump is a pump.

Seals are gone and I have the head off but am unsure how to remove the brass retainer rings.

I was told to knock it lightly with a socket. either I knocked too soft or there is a better way.

I simply want to remove the rings so I can replace the rubber seals.

Sounds like your trying to rebuild the entire pump. AM I correct? What kind of pump is this?

Never seen a manifold with retainer rings. If its a Truarc retaining ring use retaining ring pliers. If its a constant wire ring, try using a screw driver to hold one side and a pick to pry out the other side. Just try not to let it fly across the room or hit your eye.
Some full floating piston pins have the constant wire type and they are a PITA.

They are not rings like found on a piston but the manual calls em that (I think)

    I'll figure it out. Thanks

No, not piston rings. little clips that hold a piston pin. Its ok maybe that was a bad example. Good luck!!!

    I got em.

"Tap with a socket then use 90* pick".

I have three little holes on my thumb. Those dammned picks hurt. :)

I messed the whole thing up...then paid a mechanic to fix it. :)

    Live and learn.
