Without a coolant reservoir it is called an open system. with the reservoir it is called a closed system. Not so much an issue as an open system does bleed coolant during thermal expansion as does a closed system will. You may want to check the radiator cap cracking pressure if your concerned. If your engine is the A12 it should be a closed system. I'm a firm believer that all engines should be closed systems and can easily be changed from open to closed. An open system has a special radiator cap that only allows flow out, whereas a closed system cap will allow flow out and back in.

it also could be a over flow hose....mine has a coolant reservoir...it is a closed loop system.....but it also has an over flow tube that comes off the neck of the radiator....this is more a bleed off tube if the thermostat sticks or the cap looses is pressure........
