I have an older prochem 150 with a oil burner it has 2k hrs a mercury pump, sutorbilt 3mvf blower , onan 16 hp engine all old school stuff. It is in good working condition except for a few hopefully minor problems .Te heater will not fire I have a spark on the burner but the fuel solenoid is not opening I have ran 12v straight to the solenoid and everything worked I also replaced the wires to the solenoid.I am getting power to the thermostat as well seems to be thermostat I believe any opinions. Also I need to know where tofind one of these thermostats
2 The Blower is only reading only maybe 5hg on the vac gauge is this normal or should i need a rebuild or could there be something stopping the pipe - exhaust o gaugeitself
3 Fuel pump was not working but I hooked it up 12v and it seems to pump too much fuel to the engine it will run quite a bit longer after the pump is turned off
Any help would be great with any of the problems or just a good place to find the parts please Thanks ahead of time

Sounds like alot of issues. First you need to check your flow switch. It should be an st-6. Make asure all the wires are hooked up, key on and run a heavy magnet over the flow switch briefly to see if the solenoid opens after you do that. If the magnet closes the circuit and allows voltage to be sent to the solenoid, the bullet in the flow switch may be stuck. You can try flushing it out or you can get a new flow switch from Steamway or JonDon.
Taking a reading for the blower needs to be done with all the vacuum inlet ports blocked off.
If you have too much fuel pressure your carb would be leaking fuel and fuel would run down the throttle arm. You probably need a new fuel solenoid. The fuel solenoid stops fuel from entering the jets if the fuel solenoid is bad or not hooked up it will diesel and run on. All the parts you can get at jondon.

Hey i think ive narrowed it down to the thermostat hopefully anyways im not getting any conductivity through it but it does have power going to it . my flo switch seems to be working the light goes on and off when it gets pushed on and then goes off when youlet off but i havent put a meter on it yet. And i never tried the mag trick thats what i heard to do i just hooked it to 12v and it worked shouldnt that verify that itworks. thanks ara

The way I told you was backyard mechanics. The right way is to remove the probe from the body, hook a multimeter up to it set to ohms. Each lead pos and neg on each wire. Slide a magnet towards the top and check for stable resistance. Anyways, the flow switch works voltage wise but the bullet could be getting stuck. And like you said your thermostat micro switch could be bad or out of calibration.
At this point I need to ask if this truckmount was working before or is this something you just purchased. The reason im asking is there could be wiring that is not hooked up properly. On the thermostat micro switch there are three fields. the NO field is the field that is sending current to the flow switch when the tiny button gets depressed.

One more thing I just realized is if that light goes on and unit fired when you put the magnet on, that tells me you are getting voltage from the microswitch. I would make sure that bullet is not getting stuck. Try descaling your truckmount. If that does not help the bullet from sticking then its time for a new flow switch. The chamber will wear over time and create pockets that deform and make the bullet jam.

Hey thanks alot Ara by the bullet I assume you mean the little metal bullet shaped plunger that is visible from the outside and actually gets pushed by the switch. If so itappears to move freely up and down and stays down as long as the water is flowing :AddEmoticons04259:

No, I think your talking about the visifloat for soap. I looked at the service manual and it has a different flow switch then what I was talking about. I dont think the flow switch you have is availible anymore. In fact I've never even seen that flow switch before. Did you put a maget on your flow switch and the unit fired? If so thats your problem. Their calling it a flow control part #15-808042 For $769.00 Save yourself 800.00 and buy an ST-6. you can call me if you want 773-398-8833
