Hello, I have a prochem blazer that recently gave me a no pressure problem. I live in phoenix, AZ if the weather actually makes a difference.

I noticed the pressure gauge is not responding, the needle is turned to the max pressure reading and although there is no pressure the needle stays there. I checked the pressure regulator and cleaned the water box strainers already, but still there is no pressure. What else should I check for, I also cleaned the strainer right at solution outlet (the one that send the high pressure water to the wand) and it had debri in it, also the rubber surrounding the strainer was sort of melted, although I don't think that will give me a no pressure problem.

What else should I check for before I start removing the water pump.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

does the needle on the gauge stay on high reading when the machine is off? your quick connector on the front of the machine could be plugged. hx could be plugged. you can take the high pressure hose off the water pump and start it to see if the pump is working. if its pumping water then look downstream to find the problem. hoses deteriate when they get old and the rubber will plug things up. i have also had my solution line collapse internally and i couldn't tell. after chasing many things including descaling i switch solution hoses and everything worked fine again. --Kevin--

Yes, the needle stays there even when the machine is off. Water does flow but it is at a very low pressure, I connect a 3ft hose off the machine and put my finger in it and it does not push my finger, before I could not do that. I will try it with a different hose and see what happens, could it be that the o rings and seals in the cat pump need to be replaced?

yes, assuming you are getting good flow to the intake side of the pump and the pump is turning and the plungers are operating properly. does it have an electric clutch on the pump? if so is it engaging? make sure the oil side of the pump is good, if connecting rods are broke the pump needs to be replaced instead of rebuit. also it could be the check valves in the back of the pump. they may need to be replaced but they also may just have crud in them not allowing them to close properly. jon-don has check valves and rebuild kits for cat pumps if your local supplier doesn't. --Kevin--

btw. did you tighten the pressure regulator knob back up, if it is to loose you will get some flow but no pressure.

It doesn't have a clutch, where are those check valves at the back of the pump? Are they internal check valves? Because I can not find outside.

yes they are internal. unscrew the big nuts on the back of the pump and carefully remove them with needlenose pliers. there should also be an o-ring in there, make sure those are in good shape.
