    Well,

My work van is a 97 E250 with just over 300k on it. Saturday morning on the way to a VERY busy day, I noticed some serious valve knock out of no where on start up. I figured it would go away since you always here some in the a.m. and with it being "cold" outside I figured it was no big deal. Pulled out the apt complex and the truck shut off....hmmm...I stop at walmart to get some oil, figured maybe i'm running low, let me throw a qt or 2 in. Check the oil and it's a bit low, so, i put 2qts in and say i'll change the oil tomorrow(today). Drive off and all of a sudden I can't get my truck in gear???? I fight w/the shifter for it to go in D, get it in gear, head off to my 1st job of the day. I get 20 minutes away from the job and the knocking I heard in the morning now sounds like extreme knocking and metal hitting together.

I pay the toll and i'm like shyte i need to pull over, I pull out the toll booth and the knocking gets louder, now something i forgot to mention was the oil pressure gauge was bouncing back and forth, right when I get to the exit on the beltway, the gauge takes a nose dive, I hear a PPPOOOOFFFFF, smoke starts to piss out from everywhere....van shuts off.

I pull over and lift the hood to see if i can see anything major and took the Oil filler cap off and well....the smoke coming out of it looked like a snoop dog video. Now van won't start at all.....

    *sigh*......

    always me....

Sorry to hear this. Souns like serious bottom end engine damage.

If money is tight I would find a a cheap van quickly and move your TM over so that you don't lose anymore jobs; losing revenue will definitely make the situation worse. The Chemtex 15 seems to be a pretty small machine so you may even be able to get away with a mini-cargo van.

Good luck, Edgar, I know how frustrating these things are. Just start working to solve the problem and you will be back up and cleaning in no time.

Sounds like your oil pump is shot or the pickup screen is clogged. Either way the van motor is done if it doesnt turn over. Ford makes a better engine than GM. Thats why Fords are more expensive because they are better quality and last longer. Just ask John Force.

Being a ford guy and working on ford motors as a hobby for quite sometime and I had the feeling that the oil pump was shot and riding around for a few miles didn't help at all and caused even more damage than good. I'm sure a ring/valve either dropped or just destroyed itself.

I'm extremely in a bind right now, i've got 200 signs and 4000 flyers about to hit the houston metro area and it seems like it's going to be back to the scooter for right now. I'm thinking of getting a small enclosed trailer and swap out the TM but, I feel like it'll look so unprofessional, however, my scooter on the back of the a pick up is probably worse.

*sigh* $ is extremely tight right now and i'm at the end of my string right now......

go to a junk yard and look for a car hit from the back
and buy the motor if it low on miles that's what i did got a 5.7 from a esclade then put it in my van i payed 800 for motor and 1000 to put it in.
    so 1800 runs great.

    only 32.000 on it

Another thing to watch for is a clogged oil passage. Use Motorcraft filters only on a Ford. Have heard of cheap brands causing more problems than they're worth. I think all the other possibilities have been covered. Sorry about your van, but it sounds like an oil starvation issue and the engine needs replaced.
