O.K. so I just changed a coupler for the second time. I had to remove the screws from the front panel so I had a little more room to move the engine enough to remove the coupler. Everything all buttoned up and go to check things out and I get nothing when trying to start it. Now I did touch a wrench on the starter terminal when tightening the exhaust nut and got a little spark. But other than that I can't think of anything other than removing the front panel. 12 volts at the starter and circuit breakers are not tripped.
You need to do more than check for 12 volts. You have to check for voltage drop when you turn the key. If you hear a single click you have a bad connection somewhere on the battery terminals or at the starter. Most often a single click will indicate a bad starter solenoid. http://www.truckmountforums.com/forums/automotive/5752-starter-circuit-voltage-drop.html
If you dont hear your fuel pump then you may have a disconnection at the ignition or one of the accessory wires on your engine is disconnected. My guess is that you pulled a wire out when you pulled your panel back. My Kohler has accessory wires on both sides of the motor and some Kohlers have them on one side only.
What kind of engine? If it is a Kohler some have a main fuse attached to the engine. Mine is on the right hand side.
It's a Kohler. I'm gonna play with it this afternoon. What does the fuse look like? Is it visible or is it under some of the covers?
