We have Blueline Thermalwave, and Prochem 405 Trcukmounts. We have to purchase a new truck and unit soon. We want to reconfigure the new units with all the equipment out the side door.
We use the narrow box truck, chevy chassis (the side doors swing out). The opening is about the same as a normal van.
I would like to see pictures of slide in units with all reals out the side doors to see how practical it is. We're also interested in PTO units, because of the space savings, but worry about fuel use, and the wear and tear on the vehicle engine.
We appreciate your feed back, and opinions.

Matt King has a nice new Steam Genie that was at Connections. Its a PTO unit, and if they're built anything like the older model it'll last you many years. We have the older unit, and its 18+ years old and in its second van. Butler is another good PTO unit too.

Matt Kings new and improved Steam Genie PTO is better than the old version. fuel consumption isnt a whole lot more than your larger slide in. Matt is a class act too and knows his stuff.

I like my Hydramaster 4.8 CDS. Lots of heat, lots of vacuum, and they last forever. Fuel cost is about the same as a medium to large slide in, as it only uses a fraction of the vans engine power, with fairly low rpms.

Hydramaster 4.8 CDS w/salsa would be my suggestion. Great reliable machines, LOTS of heat, and like said before they will last for a very long time.

Owned one for a long time, great machine that I combo'd with a crappy van. Slide ins are useless if your van is always acting up. This is why I switched to slide ins, don't have to rely on the van engine to power your machine.

If you feel like you have a reliable van then I would definitely look at the 4.8 CDS.

If you get a new van then I suggest a pto. If not then a slide-in. The advantage to a slide in is the ability to move it van to van if needed. Out at Connections we we're very impressed with the El-Diablo. Compact, strong vacuum and crazy heat. There is a lot to choose from these days and most are of high quality. What I like about Blueline and masterblend for instance is their service ethic. That is a very important factor.

The El Diablo looks like it has a fairly small footprint and would allow plenty of room for the hose reels to go out the side door. Duane Oxley (Accelerated Cleaning) also makes some machines with very small footprints.

The El Diablo is a fantastic unit and has plenty of heat at 250 in about two minutes and holds it there. A compact unit that leaves you plenty of room. Weight is 700 pounds. 195,000 BTU Diesel Heater. Roots 45 Whispair DSL Blower. Cat 3CP Pump. 75 Gallon Waste Tank. Dimensions: 35" W X 46" X 61" L. Great company to work with and great tech support. Would not ask for any better.

My King Butler modification(5 to the door) twin 2.5 elbows linked into one...

Enable you not only to achieve over 100 cfms over a standard large blower Butler on Mach 2 speed.

But also at a lesser rpm rate,at 1450 rpms my Butler is in the same cfm range(actually 40 higher) at 100 feet versus the above example at 1750...

But with proper tuning any Butler should not exceed more then a gallon an a half an hour.

At 1550 rpms,I am just in the one gallon per hour range. An that is at least 320+ cfms.

More then enough to clean very well an still be miserly...When I bring her into 1750 rpms,Im sitting at close to 400 or so.But I get more when the wye is further from the truck.

If I had a cfm guage again,I would retest with the new sweeping elbows, versus plastic 45 degree versions. When I had the meter...But I surmise no more then 5-8 more cfms in all rpm ranges...

But who ever has a pto that gets bad gas consumption better look at there own maintenece records very closely...K an N air filters and oil filters are a must...

You can't run well with a stuffy nose can you, same principle.

I liked the look of the steam geanie PTO also. For slide a in I would buy the El De ablo

I myself prefer the pto style, I have 230 water, super suck 1000PSI and my unit is 20years old in it's 4th van with 150k plus miles.

    I beg to differ!!!!!

I am over 2 1/2 years into my BlueLine Thermalwave hp.... Out of warranty, Thom knows this, and I know this. had overheating issues, (coolant related), My local distributor could not figure it out... I called Scott @ BlueLine, I took the machine to them, as they are only 1 1/2 hours from me, and took care of me NO CHARGE... This IS what I would call "service ethic".

I would suggest if you have a problem with BlueLine's ethic's, give thom a call. He is a stand up guy, and would like to talk about it! and figure out what he could do better. 1-800-445-3030

Lance, thats great Thom did something free for you.I went through 2 Blueline Champs and a Bluewave in less than 4 years and Thom helped a little till i posted that i was having problems with my truckmounts. If it wasn't for my local distributor (PEMBERTONS) i would have had to get out of this business. So in my opinion Thom has no "SERVICE ETHICS" !

    Tony,
If he was helping you, then why post about it?
I had problems with another manufacturer, and distributor, I went right to the source, not here...
It sounds like if you went thru 3 machines, they (pembertons) and Thom, were both trying to get it corrected.

Lance i was looking for help on the problems i had with those truckmounts not posting anything negative about them. But of course Thom took it as i was "BASHING" his company when all i was doing was looking for others with the same problems and trying to solve mine.

Problems with newer equipment are not easliy diagnoised with the emisson standards of todays truckmounts. Some distibutors do not have the equipment or qualified personel needed to diagnoise machines.

:agree: I know of a fantastic distributor who falls in that catagory Steve. Yet he perseveres until he finds the problem. My hat is off to him! :hi:
