I am new to the forum - have been looking at it for several months. I am considering going into the cc and tile and grout business. Is this a business you would recommend to your best friend? Please comment why or why not. In addition does anybody have any experience with these franchises: Chem-Dry, Oxi-Fresh, Oxi-Green, Service Master, or VonSchrader. Since I do not have any experience in the field would it be best to go with a franchise, or go it alone? I am very interested in the low moisture and "going green" methods. Which is best a truck mount, portable, or a low moisture encap. machine? Can you use an encap. machine on all carpet types and situations? I would appreciate any input. Thanks. Rick
Welcome to the forum. I think a lot of us here suffer from adult ADD, so that's a lot for one post. Break it down and post one question at a time. You'll probably get better responses.
Rick, I would recommend talking with any distributors in your area. Most are very helpful. Also, look into taking some IICRC classes. You're not going to learn everything in these classes, but at least you'll learn how much you don't know and what you need to get more information about. I'd also check out Rob's Ride Along DVD. It's got good info on some good standard op procedures.
I would definitely make friends with a localdistributor, hopefully you have an Interlink Supply nearby. If you are thinking franchise, you should also consider Professional Cleaning Systems based in Raleigh, NC. Fritz Thompson is the man in charge there. Franchise can get you moving a lot faster than most who go on their own, but it will also cost you in dollars up front, in dollars along the way and other restraints on how you do business. I think PCS provides the most help and support for the least cost. I know there are some who would disagree, but I see encap cleaning as mainly for commercial use. I think it has limited use in residential at this time.
Thanks so much for the info. I'm sure I'll have many more questions. I am interested in finding out about your affiliate program. Are there any available in Texas? Thanks, Rick
