I am revamping the whole interior of my box truck to look like a show truck. The outside rocks but the inside fell short of show quality (for trade shows and golf events where I sponsor holes). I am almost done but have a little problem maybe someone could help with. I have a Rhino Liner on the floor and 6 inchs up the wall. problem is it is old and dull looking with some spots on it. I was thinking of putting something over it to make it look better but don't want it to be slippery. If I paint it wouldn't it chip? Any suggestions? :AddEmoticons04259:
1) Fuzzy Dice 2) 8 Track with ABBA playing 3) Red Velvet Seat Covers 4) Mirrors on the ceiling 5) Fake Wood panel on all but the back side. The back has a hole so the broken handle can be reached from inside the van. 6) Cooler Mounted in the Box between the seats 7) Black Lights 8) Numb Chucks in the glove box 9) Eight-Ball gear shift 10) Copy of GQ or Magnum on the passenger seat. For everything else there's Master Card.
Rob: Why not get a spray- on liner place to touch it up? That way, it really would look like new. My guess is that they wouldn't need to prep it as much as the first time. And they wouldn't need to spray it as heavily. So it might cost less. Other than that, you could get a roll- on liner in a bucket from WalMart or an auto parts store and do it yourself. With a uniform top coat of the stuff, it would look like new and be about as durable. If you DIY, you could patch the areas as well with the same stuff and allow those areas to dry a day or two, before doing the entire thing with a top coat.
There's also "vinyl paint" and "upholstery dye" for car interiors... but they'd be more of a pain and cost more as well. (They are designed to go over flexible surfaces though, so they shouldn't be brittle and flake off.)
Polished Stainless Diamond Plate on the walls, another round of Rhino on the floors. Lots of light. Everything inside shined up, cleaned up and lined up like an OCD freak did it. Maybe even mirror the back cab wall for effect. Add small flat panel video screens mounted from the top of the walls or ceiling playing some informational DVD's as well. With the back open it'll look like a trade show display on wheels. That's my take. :bigsmiley: If you can, go inside a succesful MAC Tools or Snap On truck. Those guys know how to trick them out.
Rob, My friend had his Line X (similar to rhino) touched up after we spilled some nasty sherwin williams Direct To Metal or DTM paint on it. It was in a pick up truck so it was exposed to the sun and had a slight fade compared to the touched up area that looked new. check with your Rhino dealer to see what he offers. You could always get the Maaco "ambassador" special and paint the inside, but you get what you pay for. I agree with Jay and think Diamond plating is about as trick as it gets.
Diamond Plating on the walls could get hot with the heat of the TM, and burn someone. You could spray a liner on the floor, and insulate the walls for the winter. Get a cheaper, dark CGD carpet and put it on the walls and ceiling. That would also help with noise, as well as the appearance.
I have seen spray coatings at the auto parts stores. They come in regular spray paint cans, if you wanted to try to touch it up cheaply first .
I'm not positive, but I believe that Rhino Liner makes a cleaning solution to restore the appearance of the liners. Give them a call.
I would attempt to wax it. A commercial wax would put a matte shine on it that would look sharp. Its amazing how imperfections look good shiny. Wall I would use boat carpet. Not the plastic kind but more of the wool like short nap style. It would look very sharp that way and noise would be dampened as well. I bought some grey colored at home depot recently. I used it to cover a piece of plywood to make a tool hanging board in my van. I plan to line the entire walls of my next van with it to give a clean look and to give a solid surface to hang stuff.
Depends on if the spots are...But when I want to make my van all nice and pretty, I use a good strong cleaner and scrub brush, wash it a few times, rinse really well, and then use my old trusty bottle of Armor All. Shines everything up really nice. The first time I did it, the rest of our people were asking me if I got the interior replaced. However, that might not work for your situation.
Have you tried to power wash the liner? Use some citrus solv and spray it on real good and then power wash. If it doesn't work get it sprayed again. I like the diamond plate idea I was even thinking of doing it.
https://www.resurfacesolutions.com they have a kit to do the bedliner in black or clear easy to do. hope that helps. good luck on your project.
Rob: Go to a car detailing supply store and get a bottle of PREMO. This is the stuff that is used to shine your car dash, etc. Much better and longer lasting than Armor All. I think this will solve your issue..... Shawn
Try an orbital polisher with some 3M finesse-it, like the ones used on automotive paint. This might solve your issue. Good luck Rob!
The floor of my trailer is Rhino lined as well Rob. When I clean it, I use Orange Thunder from Misco and scrub it with a deck brush then hose it out. It will clean most stains on the floor.
