What is the proper way of disposing of a mattress that is soaked with urine? I assume urine is not considered a biological hazard and that the mattress can be taken to the dump. am i right?

I have done many REO/ Foreclosure Trash-outs. The land fills charges extra to dispose of mattresses. A friend, who I sub out to on big jobs believe it or not, strips all the fabric/ material off of the bed spring. When he accumulates 10 to 20 springs he sells them to a mattress factory in the Los Angeles area. He gets about $12.00 per. He has his system down so he can strip a mattress pretty fast. I tried it once and it took me about 20 minutes. I do not know if this is a proper procedure but I do guarantee it is a technique that is used by at least one person on this planet. I never sold my 1 stripped mattress to a company though. It laid around the yard until I got tired looking at it. I then decided to sell it as scrap metal.
