I think Joe Bristor sells one. (877)926-3377. Great lakes steamway also sells them but I don't know their phone number.

Rob, a "lie detector" can be and is VERY decieving, the #of lengths of pressure line laid out, outside temp, there can be too many variables to truly call it a " lie detector". I think the best place to place this lie detector would be at the machine, not at the wand.

I agree Lance that is another reason distys don't want it around. Because too little information can be dangerous, lol. So tests have to be equal in all situations to get an accurate reading. So there was more to my post than meets the eye. Thanks for poiting that out!

I don't know...my machine ALWAYS has the same temp at the wand it does at the machine.

Always. 100% of the time even with 300 feet of line. :lifting:

Yes it takes time to purge the lines and if you don't trigger for 5 minutes the lines will cool down, but once they are purged it's always consistently in lock step with the machine.

You aint cleaned with 250* until you've really cleaned at 250*. Trust me on this. I have the scars to prove it. The chest thumpers thinking they clean at 300* are in my diplomatic, shy opinion smoking crack. lol

Maybe it's a conspiracy and it knows it's hooked up to a Steamway machine.

Jay, Scars are one thing.... but have you actually hooked up one of these lie detectors? Just curious..

Rob, My local distributor would have no problem getting me a detector... I have asked him, just havent taken him up on the offer.

LOL YES! That's my point...I have a Steamway dealer local to me and we goof around all the time. I've cleaned with one as well.

Trust me, until you've had enough heat to bubble skin from your pressure lines - you aint cleaned with the heat many claim to have. We have a welders glove on the truck for reeling in the pressure hose.

There are many things about the Legacy 2100 that have been improved upon by other makes over the years and it doesnt' have the biggest blower etc...but what that suckers got is heat - tons and tons of heat.

IMO some of the variance you may be seeing between ATW vs ATM may be from the heat exchanger varying temp a lot. I'm willing to bet the gauges have a slower reacting thermocoupler on many of those units to give the illusion of stable temps.

With an oil burner, the longer you trigger the hotter it gets - it can MORE than keep a consistent temp. One time I had a small malfunction and can only think it was past 300*. The gauge was pegged and what tipped me off was the tea kettle whistle the wand made when triggered. LOL oops.

    Jay,
I have used many oil and propane burners over the years.... no doubt they get screamin' HOT!!! I have been on the other end of that whistle, (going live) :lifting:

Our Legacy is the same way. I also have the scars to prove it. The lie detector is always right in line with the machines temp guage.

All I know is that 250F on the Legacy is a lot different than 250F on some other mounts I've used. With the Steamay it is intense wand popping, steam rolling off the carpet kind of heat. The kind of heat that liquifies the thickest grease.

Magic Wand has lift gauges and 'lie detectors'

This is the link to the temp gauge.

It does tell you how hot your solution is at the top of the wand, it can help if you aren't sure you need an inline heater etc. once you see the # and how fast it can dip it may make you do things a bit different.

I tried it on my Mytee M 12 and found 175 was top temp with 160 when not constantly wanding. Portables have their issues but you also may be surprised at the temp dips on truck mount units.
