i recently gave a client of mine a remanufactured starter for his blue line thermal wave machine received his core and sent it in for repair i usually can have them repaired and i usually charge 80 bucks for a reman on one. this time my repair was 190 bucks because it fits a prochem it is a prochem starter and they cost way more to get fixed well.....you know me...did a little research...their so called prochem or blueline starter is actually a datsun 310 starter and costs about 80 bucks to buy remanufactured from a parts store....imagine that...who would have guessed sad thing is im out the money for the rebuild waaaay to much to sell,,,and the one i gave which actually works like new is the regular old a series starter from the 405 typical to the b210
The starters you find at an auto parts store for the A12 engine is not the same as you get from jondon or any other supplier. They are a little bit longer and turn alot faster. All of the starters purchased at the auto parts store actually require the engine mount to be removed and then remounted so it will fit in and some are so long the engine mount needs to be cut. The original 405 A12 starters are extremely hard to find. The original starters are very short and turn slowly. These engines need to turn over slow for a couple reasons. One reason being to prevent the starter from burning out from the heavy load. I know they are a rip off at the suppliers, but they are the original ones for that unit and it is next to impossible to find the exact one at an auto parts store. I am not sure if the auto parts store ones have a gear reduction on them but they do turn alot faster which is not good.
