Ok I know there are some threads about coffee but I wanted to start a new one. Went to a custy's house and before doing anything I sprayed some bridgepoint coffee stain remover on a huge coffee spill, just coffee no cream and sugar. Nothing happened, no disappearing in seconds like the directions say. What the hell? Well I found out from the custy that they first tried with the spotbot and used the crap that comes with the spotbot, I think it's a bissell formula. Anyways I decided to rinse it thoroughly with the waterclaw and told them that I would come back tomorrow after it is completely dry. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to use? Should the coffee stain remover work this time?
The Coffee Stain Remover works best for low pile commercial carpet. It is a quick and less expensive way to correct multiple coffee spills when cleaning a lot of carpet. Results with coffee stain removers will be so-so on deeper pile carpets or larger spills. For residential use, I suggest that you flush out as much of the coffee as possible with the Water Claw Spot Claw or similar tool. Use air movement to help dry the carpet after the flushing. Apply StainZONE or Stain Magic to correct any color that still remains. You can check out a more detailed discussion of coffee stain removal at www.cleanwiki.com under spot removal in the technical resources section.
First, let your client know that what they did was probably make the stain a permanent fixture in their home and that the OTC stuff they tried isn't worth 2 in the hand or 1 in the bush. Then, like Scott already mentioned, flush the area and extract and then apply an oxidizer "Stain Zone/Stain Magic/USR"
