I have an opportunity to buy a used Genesis 59 with the Ford engine, 59 blower, and the 3CP pump. It only has 2700 hours on it and seems to have been very well maintained.

I ran it today for about 30 minutes and it runs great! I have never felt so much vacuum in my life.

How much would YOU pay for it?

What year is it? Could be old despite the hours. Didn't they stop using the Ford engine a long time ago?

Is it in a van? Any accessories, hoses, etc?

I am not sure of the year of the truck mount. It is in a 1999 E250 with 200k miles on it. The van has the Triton v10, a cracked windsheild, and balding tires. The outside of the van looks great and is fully insulated with an external electrical outlet.

It comes with vacuum & solution hose (probably around 200ft of each), reels for both, regular upholstery tool, (4) jet Powerclean 2" steel wand, garden hose, random chemicals and janitorial equipment, an air mover, floor rotary scrubber with tile brush and bonnet head...

I am on the fence about buying this setup. There is a 1997 Chevy express with 45k miles and a Hydramaster CDS 4.7 and a ton of goodies for a few thousand more, that we are also thinking of buying.

The Genesis setup is priced at $8,000.

This is our first truckmount purchase so any advice would be appreciated.

Wow, I was gonna say $8000. If you really wanna know about that Genesis I would highly recommend calling Carpet Cleaning Supply in Indianapolis. Ask for Buddy (owner) or Bobby (Buddy's right hand man and mechanic). They sold a few of those (with the Ford engine) in the late 90's, and also ran one in the field for years. There was some kind of major design flaw they discovered and fixed, but I can't remember what it was. Bobby could rebuild one of those in his sleep and they are an independent distributor so they are used to taking calls about this kind of stuff. They have an 800 number but I couldn't find it.

Ok thanks for the info. I will probably give him a call. I am wondering what some of you think about the 4.7 CDS vs the Genesis 59.

Which one is harder to get parts for?

Yep. I've had it almost a year now and the truckmount has had zero downtime. The best part is I only paid $6k for the whole package instead of $8k.

Good to hear, I know a guy who is trying to sell me his. How much fuel does it burn and how hot is it? How old is yours?
They intimidate me a little, I just got used to a basic 15hp tm.
    These seem so complex.
BTW, good job Branding your company, I'm working on a new concept for mine, one that, hopefully, will be easy for people to remember.

I'm not completely sure which model year our Genesis is, but it's Ford engine was manufactured in 2002...so I'm assuming it's like an '02 or '03 model truckmount. It puts out a TON of heat; more than enough for dual wanding, rotary tool, etc. It consumes a fair amount of fuel though. As to exactly how much per hour I don't really know but you'll definitely notice a difference if you jump up from a 15hp truckmount. But if you're able to have to people cleaning at the same time it's more than worth it because each job only takes half as long.

I will say this: I've heard some bad things about later year Genesis.' They ARE intimidating and in my opinion, too complicated. I like our older one because it's very simple, just big. In fact, we're actually going to be putting ours into a box truck pretty soon because it's so enormous.

Thank you for the compliments on my company :D . It's worked well so far. We have clients all the time saying that they chose us over the competition solely because of our name (which surprises me). We're adding a little more color to our theme....check out one of our mini-sites and let me know what you think: Carpet Cleaning Dupont WA .

What are you doing to change your company?

Your site looks good, like the videos.
I'm keeping mum about my concept, but, like yours, I think it will be memorable, and no one is using it anywhere in the country as far as I can tell.
Domains are untouched so far, but I expect it to change once I roll it out.
