I was wondering how most of you came up with the name of your company. I started out with the name Dyna-Clean. I sold that company and later started Dry-N-Clean. Sounded the same and explained more of what I do. I like to leave carpets "clean" and "dry'. Rob Allen.
I chose a name that's as high on the alphabetical listing as possible. Whenever you see truck mount companies listed, we're the first on the list. When I did carpet care, I had the name, "Carpet Maintenance Specialists", and I answered the phone, "CMS", as an abbreviated term. I chose that name, because: 1.) It was high on an alphabetical listing. 2.) It told people exactly what we did. (Great for business cards, etc.)
In a small community, the local newspaper was the way to get the word out. I made a deal with the paper to buy all the extra 1" spaces they had. You know where they might fill with a little message such as "Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States." I paid 1/3 the normal price per inch. The ads would read "Scott Cleans ... 967-2806" The middle might say carpet or upholstery or whatever. It was never intended to be the name of my business, but pretty soon everyone knew me as Scott Cleans. When it came time to put an ad in the yellow pages, I was still first over Superior Cleaners and Taylor Janitorial. Scott Warrington
My one time business partner came up with the name Accuclean. He called me in the middle of the night and asked if I liked it. I think he must have dreamed it or something. I like it I guess, but now there is Accuquote, Acculevel, Acuvue, and all sorts of other "Accu" businesses I have noticed. Heck, there is a radio commercial for a heating and air company that is selling a filtering device for furnaces called Accuclean. I think I may change the name some day.
Name changes are tough. be careful. Everybody knows me a s Keith. Keith's Carpet Care. Not to original but it says exactly who I am and what I do.
Say the Plane on tv, The Rest his History!! BTW< ask Rob Allen about his cleaning streak!! Simply Amazing!!
My fiance named it after herself when she did this by herself. We are in the process of thinking of a new company name.
Day one I ws 19 years old had very little money and no name recognition. There is a modern dry cleaners in my 30k person town. So I named it Modern Carpet Cleaning. Instant name recognition, really helped out in the beginning. Now I think I do more to help them out.
12 years ago I couldn't think of a good name, so I took the first 4 letters of my last name.. Then registered the name with the state as a business. They checked records to make sure no one else had it .
