    Hello guys,
My machine has hit and miss heat and Im having trouble narrowing the probelem. It has not been very hot for awile but seems to gotten worse recently to where it comes and goes completly.I have tryed bleeding the box several times but never seem to be able to get a constant stream. It will flow good for 20-30 seconds, then stop, spit and go back to a stream and start over again.Im not sure now if Im bleeding for long enough.Ive been draining about 2 gallons out a quart or two at a time and putting it back into the cooling jug under the hood. Can anyone please suggest anything I can try to determin what is going on?.....thanks with respect

Note*It has never froze up and is in a heated garage nightly

Check the water pump on your truck - are you getting good flow? Is your thermostat stuck open? How is your truck temp gauge reading?

    Ford or Chevy?

Make sure you have enough coolant, then you can turn on the engine (but make sure is cold, too hot is dangerous), then keep the valve open until you remove enough air ang you have constant flow of coolant.
You might need to descale the unit.
Check the temperature of the van's panel, if it reads 205 you are fine.
then after that, it might be the pump how Newman said about the pump.

Thanks for the replys guys.My machine is in a 94 Chevy ton van.The temp gauge on the van engine is reading as normal so I dont "think" the themostat is stuck open. However I think I will replace it so I know its functioning correctly since its a easy and cheap fix.Im also guessing the water pump is working correctly from the temps. of the vehicle.Do you guys still feel from the way I described the flow out of the heat box that its still somthing to do with this?I'll be totaly honest,I dont know much about the machine and since business is so slow right now Im just trying to save some money and try to fix it myself,or at least find the problem.

Also if it comes to where everyone thinks I may need de-scaling,could somone let me know how its done on this machine?I will keep in touch and let everone know what Im finding out.Bad news is,without your help it may take longer,lol......Thanks guys with

Sounds like a similar problem I had with my TM? Mine was a slide in and was sputtering and very inconsistent as far as water flow. I took apart everything from the wand all the way back and it ended up being my preheater (exchanger). It was so badly clogged that I had to take it to a radiator shop to get in boiled out! That was it, never any problems since then...

Not sure if your machine runs off the van engine or how it works, but it sounds like you need to descale it? Just start somewhere and start checking/eliminating things until you see something wrong or outta place? Good Luck!

Im not sure if you corrected your problem yet. If not, when the engine is cool, not hot, open the radiator cap with the engine off. Check the coolant level. Add if it is low. Open the heat exhanger valve to get air out of the system. If no coolant flow or it stops, add coolant to the radiator. The engine should still be off while you do this. The pressure from adding the coolant to the radiator will push out the air in the system out while the heat exchanger valve is open. When you get a good flow, close the valve, finish adding coolant to the radiator untill it is full. Repalce the cap. Add coolant to the coolant over flow bottle near the radiator ( being a 94 chev, you may or may not have a over flow bottle). Start the van, let it run for about 20-30 min. The temp gauge on the van should be at normal operating temp. Be careful when doing this............ Check to see if the heat exchanger is hot....... With the machine off but the van running "CAREFULLY" touch the top and then the side of the heat exchanger. It should be pretty hot. If the top of the heat exchanger is cooler than the side (side top and bottom ) you still have air in the system and you need to do it again but only when it is cool. If the heat exchanger is hot at the top and on the side ( top and bottom ) you should have your heat back. When adding coolant, make sure you use the same type that you have in the past or an any mix coolant.
