I gotta a problem with my water pump. First is a hypro pump, model i believe 2330B or 2345B not sure in an old prochem truckmount. So I noticed a while ago that the solution line started shaking but a couple of days ago it started shaking bad, it moved by itself and the spray at the wand is also somehow intermitent. So I thought it was the pulsation damper which was an hypro as well, so i changed it for a Giant accumulator hoping a solution but nothing. Been told that might be the pump, so i went and drain the oil and NOOOOOO there were metal parts in it, WHAAT. So i guess thats the source of my problem. Im not sure if it can be repairable or worthy. Anyway been looking for a new one but i would like to know if it is interchangeable with a cat pump maybe or a different one. Ive read that hypros are not the best to say it like that. So what do you guys think, i should look mainly for the direction or rotation of the pulley, for the shaft diameter and length or just a direct bolt on?
Any comment or info please let me know

Alberto, I used to own a prochem performer. It came with a Diaschene (spelling??) pump. It leaked and leaked oil, I changed over to a cat 340ht pump. As I recall I had to get a new clutch in order for it to work. Sorry I am not much more help that was about 10yrs ago, perhaps someone else out there can. spotman

    Thanks for the reply Wayne.
I dont know much about clutchs and single pulleys but im 99% sure mine has only a pulley. Ive been searching around and new ones go around 350 the lowest i found, still looking for the big deal.
Also originally it had a Hypro pulse dampener and changed for a Giant accumulator. I think they have the same function though, but the giant is preset to 600 psi. should that make a difference, been told it dont matter.

Your best bet is to call Larry Cobb. they have every pump part possible. and the knowledge to interchange this with that.

Alberto, The new Accumulator should have solved your problem. And it didnt. I would seriously make sure your new accululator is charged or has the filled pressure of 250psi. Seriously. Honestly, metal flakes will not cause line pulsation. Just pour fresh oil in the pump and monitor the pump after that. If the accululator showed the 250 psi then I would look furthur into the manifold, regulator, or a leak in the water system somewhere as being the culprit for your issue. I think it could just be coinsidence there were metal flakes. One of those four things is the culprit.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sure Ara, I will check all that before i get a new pump or try to rebuild it. Is there any way I can check the accumulator is filled by myself? It says in the label precharged to 600 psi. I also has a small drops leak at the regulator, will take out the manifold and everything to check it out. About the metal in the pump oil, man it really looked bad, like silver flakes all over the oil.

OK its 600 psi. I couldnt remember the charge rate. If you have dripping from your regulator I say thats your issue.

I'll take a stab and say that it is a check valve that is not closing all the way. Either debris is caught in it or it is worn out. If this is the issue it should be a quick but not necessarily cheap fix.

A friend told me something about it too. That some valve in the out part of the pump might not be working or stuck or something like that. I think im gonna open that pump to see whats going on and how much damage is there. Also noticed that the heat exchanger tab or holder to the body of the TM is broken. Not sure if that can be part of the problem or a consequence of the same. Small leak from the connection at the outlet manifold at the connection of the hose coming from the heat exchanger.

Your answer in short, you need a new pump. Or at the very least a full rebuild, you can buy a rebuild kit fairly cheap, and if you are not sure how to do it yourself, you can pay the guys at the local machine shop to rebuild it for you.

uhh, i don't think a "full" rebuild is in order when the housing is in pieces, that is a "replacement only" fix. jondon has hypro pumps for about $477 and cobbs has general pump starting at about $479. call and see if they will fit your application. good luck.
