I have a 01 ford 3/4 ton diesel. I started this morning, it started perfectly then I drove it about a mile parked it for 5 min or so and tried to start it again. My dash light come on bright them dim it won't even turn over. I've cleaned off the battery post and tried jumping it. I can't get a mechanic to come look at it until late tomarow and someone is supposed to come by to look at it to buy it tomarow. Anybody on here know what might be wrong?

It could be a bad connection somewhere. Or the starter could be bad. Do you hear multiple clicking or one single click?

Thanks for the reply Ara. I took my batterys and got them tested and one was bad. I replaced it and it started fine. I was worried over nothing. It was kinda odd though I thought if a battery went bad it wouldn't happen that fast.

You need to invest in some top-quality batteries if you want to be able to depend on that diesel. I recommend getting 2 Exxide Maxima batteries. I paid $250.00 each for mine and I wouldn't use anything less for a diesel vehicle that affects your income..

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I did my brakes then went for test drive. Parked and shut off , went back 5 min. later and everything dead. Bad cell that finally went. Also gave off a sulfer odor.

It takes two batteries to start most Diesels so a normal car has a hard time jumping one! Plus regular cables won't work either, It takes a heavy duty set!
