I just recently found a deal on a mytee 1001dx. I have totaly broken down this machine and rebuilt it from ground up. When I bought it the heater was bypassed. I am trying to wire it all back the way that it came from the factory.

I tested the heaters with a multimeter, and they seem to be fine. The problem is whenever I turn one heater on with or without anything else on it will trip the breaker 20 amp btw. I have the wiring blueprint, and from what i can tell I wired the machine to match the blueprint.

I am new to this... Any help would be appreciated... I have searched and searched for a picture of the heater and the way it is wired... Also for an answer as to why the heat is doing this... I really want this heater to work, hince the reason for the purchase of it... Thanks in advance for the help...

thanks frank, I have got all of the blueprints from mytee's website. when it comes to the wiring of the heater, it gets confusing. I dont know if I am suppose to have four thermal switches, or two? I only have two. I have it wired like so:

Two black wires out of the heater for each side, and one black wire for power from switch, and one red for power from switch.

One black to: Black from switch
Other black to : white from plug (or cord)

One black to : Red from switch
Other black to : white from second plug (or cord)

    Something is just not right....

there must be something wrong with the heaters... that is the way that i have it wired, but it still trips breakers everytime... and its the only thing on that circuit so... thanks though...

Is there any way to test the heaters with a multimeter, I have checked continuity and there is no problem there. Any other suggestions?

I have done just about everything to do. I did test the heating elements, the resistance is 13.2 ohms, i dont nknow if that is right or not.

Jason, check to make sure the two hot wires coming in to the heater switch go to two separate cords, not the same one. Also make sure you're plugged in to outlets that are on separate breakers.

Use your ohmmeter to check for continuity between the hot side of each plug and the ground prong with the heater switch turned on, you should have none. If you do, the heater has an internal short to ground and may be tripping a GFI outlet.

Thank you guys for all of the help. I am off and running now. This machine is absolutly the best carpet cleaner I have ever seen. I used it on my house and wow... the stains are gone and the whole house smells better. Once again thank you for all the help. Now I have to decide whether or not to keep or sell the mytee....

My advice? Keep it! I have one (Mytee 1003) that someone simply thrashed, but works great! I found all sorts of uses for it in the shop, and as an upholstery supplement in the field. Probably one of the handiest tools!
