    Newbie here.

I have some orange colored furniture stains (on nylon carpet). After Utra pac / Citrus Solv/ Oxyplus prespray and HWE they lightened up but were still visible. I let it dry and then sprayed Stain Magic.... after 12 hours it's had no effect.

Is there a better procedure to handle furniture stains? Thanks, this board has been extremely helpful.

After you apply Stain Magic cover with plastic. The stain will draw up into the plastic. It can take more than 1 application and sometimes it never does totally come out.

I agree with Jason. Also, I have sometimes been able to remove furniture stain with a combo of solvent cleaner and Avenge.

Thanks, I put more stain magic on and covered it with plastic, if that doesn't work can I use undiluted Citrus Solv or am I better off getting some pro solv or power gel? There are so many different solvents out there.

Also, do you know what the Avenge does that the solvent wouldn't do on it's own?

    Thanks again for your help!

I always start with Pro Solv and then move to the Stain Magic.

Explain how the stain will "Draw" up into the plastic.

The only reason for plastic is to keep it wet so the chemical reaction occurs longer. Once dry it becomes inactive.

I really don't know. I followed the spot removal chart that came with my Bridgepoint kit and it worked.

Correction.... You are right. The reason for the plastic is to increase dwell times so that the product does not dry to quickly. Thanks for correcting me. I guess I wandered off into red stain land.

Some refinements to the comments above.

Use a solvent first. Some furnityure stains include a component that can be removed with a solvent - All Solv, Pro Solve Gel, Citrus Solv or whatever you like. If you use a voltaile solvent it will evaporate. Then you will not need to extract or rinse.

After using the solvent, then use the oxidizer. I prefer StainZONE over Stain Magic, but either one should be able to do the job.. Apply StainZONE or Stain MAgic to dry carpet. If you rinsed or extracted your solvent or the carpet is wet from cleaning, you need to get the carpet dry before applying the oxidizer.

    Use fresh product.

Apply liberaaly. You don't want it to dry out for several hours. Do some light agitation to get the StainZONE worked into the stain.

To accelerate the action, you can use a UV light, UV flashlight or the DCI light with the UVC bulb in it. If you don't have a UV light, sunlight can help. Open blinds or curtains if this will allow more sunlight on the stain.

In some conditions, covering with clear plastic wrap slows down the evaporation and drying. In some humid conditions, this is not necessary.

Sometimes a second application is required.

Why does Avneg Neutral spotter work when other products don't? Our special secret of reactive ingredients. This works for about 25% to 30% of furniture stains. It owrks faster and easier than StainZONE but it does not work all the time. Personally, I go directly to StainZONE after the solvents, but Avenge could save you some time.

Everything Scott said...but also, remember to under promise & over achieve! Some furniture stains will not come out, so explain that you'll do your best and if YOU can't get it out, NOBODY can. There's a fine line, you don't want to sound unconfident, but you don't want to get their hopes up to high and then not deliver.

The only reason to cover in plastic is to keep it from drying out too quickly. If you apply liberally and use a UV light, it should not dry out before the stain has been removed.

Any clear plastic that lets the light through will work fine.

There actually used to be a product on the market many years ago that worked on furniture stains. It came in a aerosol can but was taken off the market. At this point, nothing works well and the only times they come out are the very few occasions that you get lucky. It's better not to waste time and chemical on a one-in-a-million shot.

Anyone have any other tips. I had a customer call today who said one of my techs cleaned her sectional. She said he pulled it out to clean and and after it dried she pushed it back. Then she called us today. Carpet is white and now has red stains. Going later this week. I have my way of treating them just wondering if anyone had any new ideas before i headed out.

Good luck. Hope you don't have to buy any carpet.

    That didn't work.
Isn't stain magic just ammonia and 40v peroxide?
