Well I wanted to try powerwashing and sure got a handful of it today.

The local Ford Dealership has given me the go-ahead to wash all the cars every Friday. Now I have to find out
if this is going to be reasonably profitable for the effort.

It's just a small dealership so only 26 cars on the lot, but it still took more than 2 hours to do them.

I think I have a good system down now. I scrapped the soap idea, takes too long and uses too much water, plus these cars just have road dust which doesnt need scrubbing or soap. So Im just giving them a good powerwash, then I have a helper do a quick towel-down.

I'm also using soft water so it really helps avoid any spots or runs.

The key here is to be able to do them fairly quickly, I'm only getting 10 bucks a car, but its a steady gig, at least for now. I set up the 100ft hose and go pretty quick from car to car along the lot.
My pump delivers a hefty 5.5gpm of water with the 5.5 gpm nozzle at 1300psi. It's not 3000, but it has twice the flowrate as the gas powered department store models.

The problem is water supply, two ways, one I need a second tank to finish all the cars, so I need to work on getting a hose run from somewhere in the dealership. Today I drove home and filled and it took 1/2 hour until I was back and ready to continue. Second water supply problem is the waterbox only lets me powerwash for about 2 cars then I need to set the wand down and let it fill while the truckmount is running for a few minutes before I can continue. Not sure how to get around that one.

All in all I figure if I can get around the water supply problem I can probably still make my target of $100/hr.

Definitely find water at the dealer. If I were you I would look into DI water and soft brush like the tucker pole. garden hose pressure needed no drying needed takes only one person and pending on your speed it could take you less two hours for all of the cars. your rate still in the 100 an hour. www.portablewaterdi.com this is a place where you can find info about it. I buy it locally.

DI is interesting. I know a guy who does it, and have done a bit of work with him awhile back when I needed cash.

He does powerwashing, too. He has a trailer with 2 power washers, and 2 150 gallon tanks. One has cleaner (bleach and a bit of dawn) and the other is rinse water. He has 3 50 gallon tanks mounted above the other two for big jobs.

He's gonna need one, to pull around 300-500 gallons of water.
